You can attend either one week-long course, any combination of other shorter classes, or one or two classes if you only need a few hours of credit. The Assessor's Cadastre - Procedures, Protocols, and Pitfalls This workshop covers the historical procedures to purchase a parcel of land in the United States. The class will review the early colonial version of metes and bounds descriptions, followed by the government land survey method. The class will follow the PLSS across the Great Plains and end up with the history of the Boise Meridian. This workshop will also provide a complete coverage of all legal instruments used to transfer an estate in real property detailing the meaning of all the legal terms mentioned on those transfer instruments, (i.e. various forms of deeds, wills, and court decisions). The main focus of the lecture is a very detailed review of proper procedures and protocols for county staff to follow regarding those instruments. This class will review the evolution of real property assessment and the creation of county assessment offices. And, along the way we will also discuss George Washington's, Thomas Jefferson's, Benjamin Franklin's, and Alexander Hamilton's ownership and real property assessment beliefs.
