The Latest

Residents of Berkeley and Dorchester counties will have more convenient access to comprehensive healthcareservices within the next three years. Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital will take one year to design and twoyears to build. The goal is for the new facility to be open to the community in 2019.

The 140,000­square­foot hospital will feature 50 beds and offer obstetrics, physical therapy, infusion therapy,radiology and imaging services, as well as an emergency department and pharmacy. A medical office building willbe built next door on the 90­acre campus. The project is expected to create 285 new jobs in the Lowcountry. Anestimated 215 people will work in the medical facilities during the first year, ramping up to 250 in its second yearand 285 by year three.
