Slide 6 Project-based instruction an example: Cuisine of German-Speaking Countries To become acquainted with the regional cuisines within the German-speaking countries To learn about the traditions surrounding food To study the practices and attitudes pertaining to food and health in these countries To learn to read recipes in German To cook a dish using a recipe in German To describe the nutritional aspects of this recipe To write and publish a banquet menu To compile and publish a class cookbook in German To write an invitation (evite) To plan and organize buffet banquet Slide 7 Classwork = Collaboration Classwork = Collaboration Practicing, explaining homework Frequent partner & group work Cultural presentations & activities Films, songs, kinesthetic activities Kein Englisch in der Deutschklasse! Telefonpartnerarbeit ONE OF THE KEYSTONES OF FHS GERMAN Parents need to sign EACH time for credit. Objective: to improve fluency in spoken German. PROFICIENT ACADEMIC FOREIGN LANGUAGE SPEAKING SKILLS MATTER IN COLLEGE!!!!! I will get your child there, IF your child participates fully and consistently in my assignments and activities. Daily study of all provided materials as well as reading and writing activities are emphasized 15-30 minutes for German 1-3 (often less, sometimes more) 30-60 for AP / Honors Vocabulary study (10 words/expressions daily) Students should continually review vocabulary (this is essential to acquiring a new language) Use flashcards, a flashcard app, and/or Quizlet.comQuizlet.com Revisions of tests and compositions compositions must be typed in MLA format!
