William has an analytical frame of mind, which enables him to come up with interesting responses to com- plex situations. His project for a cross-programmed Carpark-Park-Markethall in Wembley used a Foucault- ian technique of analysis to unpick unusual narratives of place. His unconventional approach combined puppetry, moving image and live performance, taking on a local developer with humour but no little intent. He has a considered interest in the politics of the urban environment and always made strong contributions to critical theory seminars. He continued to develop his use of films into his thesis project on transport infrastructure, completing a beautiful 5-minute film alongside a skilful set of drawings. His commitment to fully understand the structures of power within the built environment is evident in his current position at Lambeth Council, which came out of this work. At a personal level Will is a great addition to any team, bringing enthusiasm and good humour. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any studio. Dear Sir/Madam,

William was my student at the Royal College of Art over two academic years and a prominent member of the studio ‘Architecture and Activism’ with I ran in partnership with Torange Khonsari (also of Public Works Art & Architecture) and Francesco Sebregondi of The Forensic Architecture programme at Goldsmiths Uni-versity.

William has an analytical frame of mind, which enables him to come up with interesting responses to com-plex situations. His project for a cross-programmed Carpark-Park-Markethall in Wembley used a Foucault-ian technique of analysis to unpick unusual narratives of place.

London Borough of Lambeth Phoenix House 10 Wandsworth Road London, SW8 2LL Wednesday 9th December 2015 Dear Sir/Madam, I acted as William’s mentor over the course of his Internship with Lambeth between 14th of September and the 2nd of December 2015. Will joined us off the back of his Masters project focusing on Brixton and during his time with us showed the initiative and interest to get involved in a range of projects across different teams in Regeneration and Planning. Within Will’s role as an intern, he assisted in the commissioning of the ‘Visioning West Norwood’ programme. Will contributed to the production of interview questions, which the panel posed to potential consultants. He additionally observed the interview panel and assisted in the discussion on appointing the successful consultant. For the Larkhall Depot & Satellites project Will produced high quality architectural drawings in order to respond to the Project Manager’s wish to raise the ambition for proposals on these sites. Within the Planning Department, his drawing skills also proved valuable in resolving a boundaries dispute regarding Tulse Hill Forum’s Neighbourhood Area. He additionally showed enthusiasm to get involved in the development of Lambeth’s innovative CLIP (Co-operative Local Investment Plan) by participating in a late design workshop with Councilors. It has been a pleasure to work with William and we thank him for the positive contributions he made to the team. Reference: William Henley To whom it may concern, In 2011, I was the head of 3rd year for William Henley’s final year of his BA Architecture Degree at the Liverpool School of Architecture. I was also his lecturer and coordinator for the BA3 Architectural History and Theory module. I have since left the university to join Rick Mather Architects. William was awarded a 1st class degree which is a fair reflection of his exceptional design skills. His average studio mark for 3rd year was 74% and he was awarded the Holt Travelling Scholarship by the school for outstanding performance. His mark of 75% in the History and Theory module proves his academic ability. William has exquisite technical drafting skills which, were recognised by the School with the award of the John Rankin Prize for excellence in hand drawing. He combines this gift with a strong work ethic to great effect. For his final BA project he showed great initiative and ambition by expanding the brief in order to propose an entire new arts quarter based on the Barbican for the Liverpool docklands. The drawings he produced were at once beautiful, rigorously tectonic and highly atmospheric. William met all deadlines on time, proving his ability to successfully juggle workloads from different modules. I am convinced that he would prove a real asset to any school of architecture. He showed great potential by improving throughout the year. I expect him to excel in his Part 2 and beyond. Regards, Douglas McCorkell Architect ARB [email protected]
