    September 24 - 3Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space is participating in Take A Child Outside (TACO) Week by offering outdoor

    programs at different Wake County Parks during the week of September 24-30. In honor of this important week, program fees habeen waived - note the TACO logo by programs throughout this issue of Wide aWAKE!

    TACO is a program developed by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to get children outdoors to discover the naturworld around them. The goal of TACO week is to get children to understand and appreciate the environment in which they live a

    to have fun exploring nature! Pledge to take a child outside by visiting the following website: www.takeachildoutside.org.

    workshop for all NC Environmental EducatiCertification candidates who enrolled in th

    KCC - Dinner from Dirt!

    Have you ever thought about where your food comes from? Whether you are avegetarian or an omnivore, your food depends on soil, microorganisms, and the

    growers that produce food plants and animals. Experiment with soils andirrigation, investigate insects, try your hand at hydroponic farming, and cook using

    the suns energy.Fee: $60 for entire semester of 8 sessions.

    Kids Conservation Corps is an annual natural history education series forchildren ages 9-12, with a new theme each year. Designed for children who are

    Invasive species in the forest will be the focus of this workshop.

    PLT is an interdisciplinary environmental education program

    Parks and one Town of Cary Park, while receiving PLT
