Aviation Tech CenterAccomplishments

• Graduated 50 students in Airframe and Powerplant Spring semester 2009

*Single semester high. • AMT awards: 33 students received bronze

thru silver.  School received gold for 75% participation of faculty.

• Kicked off the Avionics program (day/night).• Received over 200K dollars in donations for

the Avionics program from Garmin and Cessna.

• Two Women graduates were featured in a national publication.

• Sent a representative to the Aviation Expo.• One full time faculty completed  the FAA

requirements to become a Designated Mechanic Examiner.

• Expanded to 5 sessions day and evenings at both East and West campuses.

Goals

• Preparation to transition to NCAT.

• Hire and train new Director.• Begin recruiting for Fall

2010 program at NCAT• Complete all simulators that

are in the process of being built for Avionics

• Complete professional (NACT) certification for our avionics instructors and our avionics curriculum

• Automotive – Snap-On Regional Training Center

• Aviation – WIRED grant funded new Composite Repair program and equipment.

• Energy – Wind; two grants pending for renewable energy. Developed Snap-On Torque Certification

• Automotive – NATEF Recertification for Automotive Collision

• Aviation – Snap-On, National Training Center for Aerospace.

• Develop additional NDT tracks within aerospace and energy.

• Energy – Develop new certifications in renewable energy opportunities.

• Increased the number of  Business Administration degree options:– Accounting TC now offered as an AAS

degree.– Administrative Office Technology TC

• Successfully completed articulation agreement with Youth Entrepreneurship of Kansas (YEK).

• Established relationship with Derby High school (faculty participating on the Business Advisory Board).

• All Business curriculum available in online/hybrid format.

• Assist in recruiting to create feeder schools

• More involvement with DECA (marketing/business) programs and develop student organizations for students attending WATC (Delta Epsilon Chi).

• Expanded the number of course offerings to 102 new classes for the year – up from 29 in the previous year

• Successful transition from Axio to Angel Learning Management System

• Developed rubric for assessment of online course content

• Work with Faculty to incorporate new technologies into the classrooms to enhance student learning

• Improve recruitment and enrollment efforts to support new department programs

• Incubate a Certificate of Completion (Energy Auditing) provided the Kansas Department of Energy Grant is approved.

home with fully functional state of the art science and health labs

• Significantly improved relations with health science advisory boards and department faculty

• New Programs: EMT-B, evening MA, evening LPN, online medical coding & insurance, MLT articulation agreement with Seward Co., increased the number and locations of CNA and CPR classes

Goals• Add 18 month evening LPN

program

• Begin research for a 2 year RN program

• Work with R&D to develop new health science programs for fall 2010

• Increase the number of articulation agreements, offer dual credit in health sciences to surrounding high schools, add CNA classes at Winfield & increase transferable gen ed credits for health science programs

• Trained 950 Cessna employees on Crew Chief Leadership from March 08 to present

• Strengthened relationship with  6 area Apprenticeship groups

• Developed 6  training programs with key OEM’s and suppliers which lead to repeat business throughout 2008 and 2009.

Goals

• Develop and market additional training programs in aviation, machining, transportation and environmental health and safety to be delivered in the surrounding counties (MSA).

• Develop opportunities/market and incorporate (sell) Oxygen Education training  in to companies in Kansas and Oklahoma.

• (Re) develop industry training for green jobs in Green Alliance program.

Served 20% more participants in 2009 than in 2008—680 to 816.

• With Workforce Development, secured $81,000 contract to provide assessments and remedial instruction to 200 Kaman Aerostructures employees.
