- Problem: Need to integrate the long tail of learning tools with the LMS
- Solution
-
- Build a standard plug-in for all LMSs
-
- Tool and Content Providers can build one integration and use it in any LMS that supports the standard
-
- Start simple and then expand feature sets to allow market to adjust over time and insure that engineering due diligence is being done phased release

- 29. We Need a Bridge from Old to New CC: Daquella manera
- 30. Standards Save the Day
- 31. To Sum Up
- Current-generation LMSs are old designs built to meet old needs
- The LMS needs to evolve or be replaced
- I believe it can evolve and is evolving
- Current-generation systems are evolving primarily through better integration support
- Next-generation systems being built right now will further this evolution
- Current-generation and next-generation systems will need to co-exist and integrate for some time to come
- The LMS also needs to integrate with the rest of the academic enterprise
