White Sands Primary School Summary of Level Programmes for Primary 6
1. Title: P5 School-Parents Engagement & Communication Session (SPECS)
Date: Friday 1 February 2019 Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm (After school hours) The session is conducted with the aim of sharing with parents on school matters related to the level expectations, curriculum requirements, school assessments, pupil matters and forms of school-parent communication. Cost: In-house programme. Fully subsidised by the School ___________________________________________________________________________
2. Title: Sand Animation (New Media Art)
Date: Week 2 – Week 8 Time: During school hours. New Media is a key programme in the visual arts component within White Sands Primary School. During this module, pupils will enhance their learning of script writing and storyboard creation, building on their experience from the previous year. This process then leads into the creation of a piece of animation recorded live and edited into a movie clip. This year, to commemorate the merger of White Sands Primary School and Coral Primary School, the seven Primary 6 classes will each be working on clips related to the six core values of the merged White Sands Primary School with the 7th clip featuring the merger itself. These clips will then be combined into a mini movie that would showcase every pupil’s contribution.
Cost: In-house programme. Fully subsidised by the School ___________________________________________________________________________
3. Books 2 Go by the National Library Board
Dates: 18 – 19 February 2019 Time: 8.15 a.m. – 2.15 p.m. The NLB will be holding a 2-day mass borrowing exercise where your child can borrow books from a wide array of titles. Do remind your child to bring along his / her student pass for the exercise. Cost : No payment required
___________________________________________________________________________ 4. Title: Malay Language Oral Workshop for P3-P6 Parents
Date: Saturday, 9 March 2019 Time: 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Venue: WSPS
The Malay Language Teachers will be engaging parents for an oral workshop to provide parents with guidelines to better facilitate their child’s learning of Malay Language. The availability of the place is based on a first-come, first-served basis.
More details will be provided by your child's Mother Tongue Teacher at a later date. Cost: In-house programme. Fully subsidised by the School ___________________________________________________________________________
5. Title: Parent-Teacher Conference
Date: Thursday 14 March 2019 Time: 8.00 am – 1.30pm (During school hours) The main focus of Parent-Teacher Conference(PTC) is the students’ learning. At the PTC, teachers discuss important factors such as pupils’ behavioural and social development that can affect learning. Attending PTCs is one way parents can be involved in their child’s learning and help him/her succeed. PTC presents a great opportunity to share your child's strengths and needs. All parents, especially those who had been requested to attend, are strongly encouraged to meet-up with the teachers. Cost : No payment required ___________________________________________________________________________

This is an information sharing session and not meant for a one-to-one interaction time regarding your child’s progress. C4RE Teachers will meet the class parents as a group to communicate the class and level expectations and other matters relevant to the level. We hope that through this session, you will gain an understanding of the school goals and outcomes that we would like our pupils to achieve in their learning and development.
