Two indians from the Wampanoag tribe arrived in the spring to help the pilgrims .
Squanto and Samoset came to the Plymouth colony to help the pilgrims
They showed them how to plant squash pumpkin and corn
In 1605, Commander George Weymouth explored the coasts of New England and capture d several members of the Patuxets tribe which Squanto belonged to. They were taken to England where Ferdinando Gorges, the father of the English settlement in North America, took them under his wing and taught them English

•For a time the Pilgrims lived in peace with the Wampanoags .•As more English colonists came to settle in Massachusetts , the new people were not friendly towards the Indians.•They settled on more and more of their lands.•The new settlers eventually forced the indians off their lands.
