What an incredible time this has been! So many of us have worked in partnership under difficult circumstances as parents, carers, teachers and school support staff. Together, we managed to navigate and overcome health and educational challenges posed by COVID-19 in order to provide the best possible learning and wellbeing support for our students in extraordinary circumstances. Well done, everyone! It has been lovely to see some return to ‘normal’, including time to reflect on our school achievements and think about future directions. Many thanks to those who completed our MPS family survey. Your feedback is so appreciated and will be very useful for our upcoming school planning. Our students certainly benefit from this strong input from families, as well as valuable connections with numerous community agencies such as PCYC, the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), Upper Hunter Youth Services, The Benevolent Society, Brighter Futures, The Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, the Where There’s a Will foundation and the University of Newcastle for our Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy programs. As a newcomer to the area this year, I was absolutely ‘blown away’ by the level of strategic support and opportunities available for students and families of MPS. This is an absolute credit to the school and community. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these services if possible – they are not so easily available in many areas! On a final note, I would like to sincerely thank the whole school community for the open and welcoming manner you have supported and engaged with me as the Relieving Principal. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to be at the helm this semester. I certainly value the relationships made and experiences shared. I have learned much, and hope to have contributed positively somehow to the MPS community. Best wishes to you all for a great holiday and a healthy, happy Semester 2. Fiona Lewis Relieving Principal

We are excited to announce that modified Assemblies will take place this week!

We have a large number of white awards to hand out! Not all students will receive their awards this week, but we will endeavour to work through the pile.

If you child has 10 blue cards at home, or 10 white awards, please bring them in!

Congratulations to all the award recipients!

Pie Drive Orders – delivered Wednesday

A handful of Wonderful MPS staff will be up very early on Wednesday morning to sort

through the enormous order of pies and sweet treats.

A notification will be published on Facebook and the Skoolbag App when orders are ready to collect. Please bring along an enviro bag to collect your order!

We cannot begin to thank families, carers and our extended community ENOUGH!

Approximately $24,000 worth of orders was placed as a result of our Pie Drive Fundraiser. This results in approximately $4000 in profit for Muswellbrook Public

School.

We promise the money will be put towards valuable work or resources around the school and we will inform families when a decision has been made regarding how the

money will be spent!

We kindly ask that all raffle tickets whether SOLD or UNSOLD are returned to school this Friday, 3rd July 2020.

A big thank you to all families who have returned the raffle tickets!

The draw will take place on Monday 20th July 2020.

WHS Drills

Today, Tuesday 30th June 2020, all staff and students participated in a mock lockdown and evacuation drill. We see the drills as an important aspect of school life. We want to ensure that in the case of an emergency, our staff and students are well prepared. Our staff and students conducted themselves beautifully today. We would like to give all a pat on the back!

School Fees Please note statements have been issued to all students.

Whilst it is important school fees are paid we understand that families may be

experiencing financial hardship. We ask that if you and your family are experiencing financial hardship, that you contact Fiona Lewis to seek assistance for payment of

school fees.

Tell Them From Me student survey

All students in Years 4-6, except those who have returned an ‘opt-out’ note will participate in the ‘Tell Them From Me’ student survey on Wednesday.

Teachers will walk through the students through a series of questions which will be

Library News

All library books need to be returned ASAP. If you definitely think your child has returned their books and they have checked their classroom, please write me a note and I will check the library shelves. For any lost books, payments can be made on the school’s website. In the student portal, in Oliver library, children can check what books they have on loan. Don’t forget ebooks can be borrowed online in the holidays. The ebooks are returned automatically in 2 weeks, so children don’t have to worry about losing them or books being overdue. Happy Reading!
