I t’s hard to believe July is here already! Be sure to check out the events happening this
month. Junior Golf continues as does the popular Friday Night Couples Golf and Friday
Night dinners. Dinner is open for all members; you don’t have to participate in the golf
event. Please let us know, if you can, if you plan on coming to dinner if you are not playing
in the couples golf event.
Be sure to take a look
at the inside of this
newsletter. Check out tournament results, maintenance plans,
upcoming events. And be sure to check out the picture of
Cliff cooking a pasta dish to order on the back page as well
as Seth’s golf tips. And, again, be sure to check out July’s
events above and on the back page.

From the Manager
A s July begins, the golf course is in great condition.
The greens healed quickly from the deep tine aerifi-
cation a few weeks ago, and I am seeing the resulting
flush of new root growth. When we move the holes, we are
seeing new roots at the bottom of the seven inch plug of turf.
That kind of root depth will help the turf survive the upcoming
heat of summer. I will note that the greens could be improved
by our players doing a
better job of repairing
ballmarks. Large cra-
ter-type ballmarks
have been far too com-
mon in the past few
weeks as we have had
wet weather. A properly repaired ballmark will heal in 24
hours. If not done properly, it will persist for weeks. It you
don’t know how to repair a ballmark, please ask Jim or Seth in
the golf shop. They would be happy to demonstrate. There is
also a link to a video that is on the Course Conditions page of
our website. Course conditions are updated daily with any ac-
tivities or maintenance events that might affect the course.
You can find “Course Conditions” under the “Golf Course”
tab.
If we have an extremely hot day, it may be necessary to run
some sprinklers to cool the turf. We will do our best to not
interfere with play.
Please help maintain the course by repairing ballmarks, re-
placing divots if you can or fill with sand when you can’t, rake
the sand after you play, and be responsible with your golf carts,
both riding and push carts. I am seeing a lot of push carts on
tees and collars. Please try to keep them near the paths at the
tees and greens.
DDDDIDIDIDID YOUYOUYOUYOU KNOWKNOWKNOWKNOW: A lightening
bolt travels from the sky toward
the earth at 162,000 MPH. It
returns at 62 Million MPH. That
is what we see, the return bolt
from the ground to the sky.

Under the “Golf Course”tab.
I hope this reaches you in good health and spirits. Sum-
mer is officially here; hopefully, dryer weather will pre-
vail in July. Despite all the rain the golf course is in great
shape. Please come out to enjoy your club!
Make sure to check the golf calendar. There are lots of fun
events this month for everyone to enjoy. A few of the events
this month are: Men’s Twin Lakes Derby, Ladies’ Friends
Day; also Junior Golf and Couples Golf continue this month.
If you have not been able to come out on a Friday night for
golf or dinner, please try to experience one. Chef Cliff has
been doing a fantastic job providing food with a flare!
I’d like to welcome all the new members and thank their
sponsors. If you see a new face, please introduce yourself. It
is our goal for everyone to experience a warm welcome to
Twin Lakes. Since we have been fortunate to keep our mem-
bership stable and have a successful membership drive, this
year we have a very minimal dues increase (less than 2%). It
is Twin Lakes’ continued goal to provide its members with an
excellent golf course and club operations at the best value in
the area. I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!

you get mad?”
Junior golfers in unison: “NOOOO!!”

mentals of golf as well as golf etiquette.
From the Pro
J&W Golf Shop News
As the season continues on through June and July we start to
get through the busier part of the season. June brought many
events and outings as well as 2 more Junior League matches.
The pro shop is beginning to run low on inventory but stay
tuned; we will be placing orders to restock our apparel some-
time during July. We look forward to seeing everyone out
here playing! Please continue to check the whiteboard in the
hallway for the upcoming events for the month.

PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE-The PGA Junior League had
2 matches this past month. They traveled to Golf Club of
Indiana for a hard fought match but came up short 5.5
flags to 6.5 flags. More recently Twin Bridges Golf Club
led by Greg Jones came back to Twin Lakes to try to take
on his old golf club. Twin Lakes ended up taking the vic-
tory 7.5 flags to 4.5 flags with many of our Junior League
golfers sinking 20+ foot putts to secure flags for the team.

THE FOUR PILLARS OF GOLF PSYCHOLOGY STRENGTH
Mental toughness and fortitude on the golf course. Having the
strength to stand up to pressure. A good exercise to help this is
do not give yourself gimme putts. Work on performing under
short pressure and hitting those short putts.
FLEXIBILITY Think creatively and accept things as they come. Don’t complain
about a bad shot or lie, think of a way to make it work. Recon-
sider clubs for different shots an exercise here is to take differ-
ent clubs and hit them around the green to practice different
types of shots (high, low, soft, high spin).
BALANCE Mental balance, do not get too excited, do not get too upset. Take a
count on your thoughts, how many times do you get upset in a
round? How long does it take for you to forget bad shots? The
goal is to get the number to zero.
STAMINA Beware of your own Amen Corner. Somewhere in the round you
will be far enough along to know how you are playing but too
far away from the finish to slip into cruise control. Just like
overtraining a person can overthink. Some people focus so
much on the pre shot routine they forget to execute the shot.
