Reding Secondary School Dual Credit Concentrated OYAP Electrician What is Dual Credit Concentrated OYAP ` Students earn both high school and college credits while attending this program. ` Electrician Concentrated OYAP is specifically designed to help secondary school students make a smooth transition directly into the post-secondary apprenticeship program. ` Concentrated OYAP gives secondary school students the opportunity to begin their post- secondary Electrician Apprenticeship while still in secondary school. ` Concentrated OYAP is also designed to help prepare students for academic success in the apprenticeship courses usually taught at college. ` Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School is the only Halton school to offer this unique opportunity. Students will study the first level of in-school Electrician apprenticeship curriculum as outlined in the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Curriculum Guideline. Students are recommended to take: ` Compulsory Credits + ` a suggested grade 12 Math ` Suggested a Senior Physics credit

4 in-school Construction Technology & Sheridan College credits + 1 Co-op credit in July

4 in-school Construction Technology & 2 Sheridan College credits + up to 4 Co-op credits in Sem 2

4 in-school Electrical Construction Technology & 2 Sheridan College credits + 1 Co-op credit in July

In the Electrician Concentrated OYAP students will have the opportunity to earn the following additional certifications or awareness:

` Standard First Aid ` Adult CPR & AED ` Young Worker Awareness ` ESA Tag-out/lockout

Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO) certifications or awareness in:

` Health and Safety Basic ` Fall Protection ` Construction WHMIS ` Elevated Platforms

Please note: Any students wanting to pursue College, University or for those that wish to combine either College or University with an Apprenticeship, must take the appropriate admission required University, University/College or College destination pre-requisite courses.
