While learning to use various digital technology, we were able to express our ideas and experiment with different digital technology.

After shooting a scene, you can drag clips to the timeline to order your sequence. This timeline allowed me to watch, and create our production in any order. Throughout our production, we didn’t explicitly use the order of scenes within our storyboard, and this application allows you to change the sequence of your shots.

The timeline comes in two different formats, one which allows a time scale view, and one which allows the producer to see the titles and transitions

applied to certain scenes.

The sound tool allows you to watch your production with/without your music and voice-over. This helped us to hear any unwanted sound created while filming.

How iMovie allowed us to express our ideas..

IMovie allowed us to edit, cut, and add transitions which really improved our production. We experimented with many different transition such as ‘cross dissolve’ and ‘fade out’ which made our production

look more professional.

The music which we incorporated within our production was slightly high pitched, iMovie permitted us to tune our music to a higher or lower pitch, we experimented different pitches which helped us create tension, which was a element of our audience research we needed to focus upon.

We were also able to tune our voice-over on iMovie as well as Garage band, we changed the pitch of the voice-over to create a sinister character.

Camera Equipment

Although being taught the basics of using a camera, we did encounter a few difficulties of setting up the tripod. However, we learnt many skills such as, tuning light and using tracks. Tuning light came to a great advantage as some scenes lighting was dark and the device on the camera allowed us to tune the lighting. Also, experimenting with lighting levels was useful, as setting a certain atmosphere is vital within a production.

Altering the tripods height came to a great advantage as many of our scenes were eye level shot, this allows the audience to identify the use of mise-en-scene. For, example the scene of the books, all identify with issues surrounding therapy. Using the camera allowed us to express our ideas

more, as scenes could be deleted and edited.

Tracks The use of tracks allowed us to move the across the room freely. It also enabled us to experiment with different shots and scenes. We were able to express our ideas as camera movement was easier.

Selecting a soundtrack

The website http://www.freeplaymusic.com/ we used to find a soundtrack was very helpful. However, it was very difficult narrowing our soundtrack selection as there were many choices to choose from. We could select a certain ‘style’ of music or a feel. We chose moody/gloomy as it was the atmosphere we wanted to create.

After selecting a certain ‘feel’ or ‘style’ of music, the website loads different types of music that fits into the category you chose. This website was extremely easy to use, however very time consuming as the various amounts of music available was countless. Our audience research required a great amount of time selecting the perfect piece of music to effectively create tension.

You can then preview a type of music, which you can also download.

This website allowed us to experiment with different sounds and test a variety of them as backtrack music to see which one worked best.

We were also able to research different composers and themes and subsequently this enabled us to select music that was both well composed and worked well with our opening sequence.

power points onto your blog. This is extremely practical and useful for reading and sharing information onto your blog with the rest of your production team.

I used slide share to present my production research. This device made it easier for me to present my work, and allowed me to add pictures and annotate screen shots of opening sequences.
