F.A.Q.What programmes are available? Storytelling events, talks and workshops in the four official languages – English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil are available for students from Pre-school to Tertiary levels, as well as for teachers.

These sessions will either be school visits, where the speakers conduct programmes at your school itself, or pre-scheduled events.

For school visits, please let us know your preferred time. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

For learning journeys and teachers’ workshops, details of the exact date, time and venue will be included in the individual programme write-ups.

Unless otherwise stated in the programme write-up, the maximum audience size for workshops is 30 and the recommended minimum is 10.

Priority will be given to bookings that meet the minimum requirements.

Welcome to 2019’s edition of Words Go Round – the Singapore Writers Festival outreach programme catered to schools, teachers and the community.

So much of a child’s love for reading and writing can happen in the classroom. All it takes is the right book, at the right moment in the right hands. Our programmes have been presented with a mindfulness to what will engage, excite and encourage young people to read beyond prescribed texts and think of writing as a lifelong tool that will serve them well beyond functional needs.

We hope that this edition of Words Go Round facilitates teachers, students and the public in seeing literature as a living breathing force that addresses issues that are urgent to the world we live in. This year’s programmes include talks about the importance of diversity in fiction to conversations about Instapoetry. Our programmes are designed for students from pre-school to tertiary age as well as for teachers and the larger reading and writing community.

It is our hope that inviting our featured writers into your classroom, or experiencing them in our public programmes will open up new worlds and new ways of seeing for you. Enjoy!
