Saturday morning a large group gathered on the former campus for a tour led by Dr. Wayne Marty. He said it was the largest group he has ever had for one of his tours! A DVD or Blu-Ray disc will be available soon of that tour.
Saturday afternoon Rich Ziettlow ’71, led a walk through the downtown alleys to view the amazing Alley Art that has been added to Le Mars.
The Chorale folks spent the afternoon limbering up their voices for the 4:30 performance for the public. That was also recorded and is available for purchase on a DVD or Blu-Ray Disc at the WAFA web page http://www.westmarcollege.org/Memorabilia.html or you can stream it at, https://vimeo.com/srcollins. A big thanks to Steve for his expertise and dedication in the recording process!
Saturday evening meal was held at the new Central Event Center in downtown Le Mars, owned by Shelly Harr Brown ’82, and her gospel singing family, The Browns. Nice setting, good food, excellent company!
Sunday found some at the former Calvary Church, at Bob’s for one last hot dog or just hanging out savoring the final time together.
Dr. Wayne Marty gives those attending the 1968 Reunion, a tour of Westmar College Campus.

2018 Reunions by Janice Kooiker, Executive Director
The Westmar Class of ’68 reunion committee got the ball rolling - Norma Schneider, Jackie Johnson Capra, Jan Ziet-tlow, Jo Unruh Putz and Barbara Russell Shelton.
Tim Hoffman ’81, chimed in with a suggestion that another Chorale Reunion would be a good idea to honor Frank Sum-merside’s 90
th birthday.
Then Sue Moeller suggested the 68/69 Basketball team should get together to reminisce about “The Game”. The one Westmar qualified to go to the NAIA National Tourna-ment in Kansas City when Art Oordt shot the winning basket in a double overtime game with Wartburg, just before the buzzer went off!
Lots of time to get reacquainted, reminisce and make new
memories. 167 people registered to attend. Others stopped by but did not register for the Saturday evening meal, so the count of attendees isn’t exact! Estimate 132 for Saturday night, 85 for Chorale, 22 for Basketball team. Some folks actually fit into more than one group!
The first meet up was at the Le Mars Ice Cream Parlor Par-ty Room on Friday evening. There was lots of laughter as folks sneaked a peak at a name tag then realized who they were talking to! The basketball team hung out at Curt

Lorraine Bartel Davis
presented a check to
the Monona County
Veterans Memorial
Museum last week to
commemorate the
courageous actions of
her late husband
Leonard Davis aboard
the USS Bunker Hill.
Lorraine celebrated
her 97th birthday on
May 11th. As a
young bride in a
World at war she
worked as one of the
original “Rosie the
Riveters”.
On her birthday 73 years ago, while off the island of
Kushu, the Bunker Hill was struck by two kamikaze special
attack aircraft. The first was a Zero fighter, whose 250-
kilogram bomb tore through the vessel and exploded in
the sea before the aircraft struck the flight deck and start-
ed a fire.
30 seconds later the same attack was repeated drop-
ping a 250-kilogram bomb, which ignited aviation fuel,
before plunging into the flight deck near the control tower.
The two attacks killed 373 men aboard the USS Bun-
ker Hill and wounded 264 more of its
crew of 2600. The attack has been
documented as having more casualties
inflicted than any other Japanese sui-
cide attack during WWII
Leonard was one of the survivors
who rushed to the aid of his fellow ship-
mates on that fateful day.
Leonard Lyle Davis attended West-
ern Union ‘40—’42 and then returned
later to continue his education.

New Source for Westmar Clothing Items: We are working with Get Branded 360, a local screen printer, to provide you with more styles, colors, and sizes of West-mar clothing items directly. Lisa Holt-grew Whitehead, class of ’90 and West-mar staff from 1990-1997, has done a tremendous job of setting this up. The big advantage is that they print as things are ordered so can offer more styles, designs, colors and sizes than we could possibly have in stock. They are also donating a portion of each sale to WAFA! Available now. Check out their site at https://www.getbranded360.com/ecommerce/wafa-westmar.html Get Branded 360 recently was awarded an $8,000 competitive state grant through the Iowa Mainstreet “Open 4 Business” competition. very late due to the death of my husband July 14. As God has

God has wrapped his arms around me from the beginning of
