- Ediacarische fossielen gevonden. (meercellig, bijna botloos)
- Paleontoloog Martin Glaessner publiceerde erover
- Op verschillende plekken op de wereld gelijksoortige
fossielen uit het Neoproterozoïcum ontdekt
Dickinsonia costata
Kimberella quadrata

P.F. Hoffman en D.P. Schrag oorspronkelijke hypothese : de Aarde is geheel
bedekt met ijs in het Precambrium. (Albedo effect)
Natte Sneeuwbalaarde (Slushball Earth).

Pannotia.
Tussen 650 en 550 miljoen jaar geleden ontstond er een nieuw supercontinent;
Hierbij ontstonden Laurazië (Noord-Amerika minus Florida, Newfoundland enz.),
Panthalassa.

In de meeste reconstructies bestaat de
kern van Rodinia uit het latere
paleocontinent Laurentia (Noord-
Amerika), met daaraan vast in het
zuidoosten Baltica (tegenwoordig
Noordoost-Europa), Amazonia en het
zogenaamde Nigerblok (tegenwoordig
oostelijk Antarctica. De positie van
Siberia en Noord- en Zuid-China ten
noorden van Laurentia verschilt sterk per
reconstructie. {ingarcade.com}

The breakup of Rodinia probably started at c. 820-800 Ma by rifting between
Australia Mawson-Kalahari and South China-Laurentia-Riode la Plata. At 780-
770Ma, the spreading centrejumped to a position between Laurentia and South
China, and the initial branch was aborted. Kalahari detached from Australia at
760-750Ma and the Rodinia fragments began the slow journey toward their
reassembly in Gondwanaland, and, ultimately, Pangaea.

Amongst existing palaeogeographic models of the Rodinia supercontinent, or
portions thereof, arguments have focused upon geological relations or
palaeomagnetic results, but rarely both. A new model of Rodinia is proposed,
integrating the most recent palaeomagnetic data with current stratigraphic,
geochronological and tectonic constraints from around the world. This new
model differs from its predecessors in five major aspects: cratonic Australia is
positioned in the recently proposed AUSMEX fit against Laurentia; East
Gondwanaland is divided among several blocks; the Congo-Sao Francisco and
India-Rayner Cratons are positioned independently from Rodinia; Siberia is
reconstructed against northern Laurentia, although in a different position than in
all previous models; and Kalahari-Dronning Maud Land is connected with
Western Australia. The proposed Rodinia palaeogeography is meant to serve as
a working hypothesis for future refinements.

Grenville- orogenese

noordoosten van Scandinavië en aangrenzend Rusland terug te vinden is;
Zweden en zuiden van Finland wordt teruggevonden;
Zweden gevonden wordt;

water oplosbare ijzeroxiden ontstonden.
permanent moleculaire zuurstof (O2) gingen bevatten.
