Focus tasks

Listen to the story ‘Topsy and Tim go to the Farm Househttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xftLYUow1z0

Ask children questions from the story. What happened in the story, can they recall the what Topsy and Tim did at the farm? What did the farmer bring for Topsy and Tim? Which animal began to chase Topsy and Tim? How many eggs did Topsy get? Can you count how many eggs Tim found? How do they milk the cows at the farm?

Show your child pictures of animals that live on the farm. Have the sounds that each of the animals make written on bits of paper. Eg. baaa, moo, hiss . Ask your child if they can recognise the different sounds by looking at the initial sound of the word. Can they match the animal sound to each animal?

Show your child pictures of the different animals that might live on a farm speech with speech bubbles next to them. Can your child recall the sound that the animals usually make? Encourage your child to to help you to write the sound that they make, listening to the sounds that they can hear in the words.
