Student Handbook
2017 - 2018
WELCOME TO SNHS
On behalf of the faculty and administration, we welcome you to this academic school year. We are pleased that you are a part of the Southern Nash High School community. We anticipate your involvement and cooperation in making this year successful.
This school handbook has been prepared to help answer many questions students and parents usually have concerning the activities, procedures, and rules for the successful daily operation of Southern Nash High School. There is no intent to develop a set of expectations that are confining or restrictive. Instead, a common ground of clearly understood policies and procedures will enable us to provide the best possible educational experiences for every student. In the event that problems or concerns evolve, we are available to discuss and help resolve any situation. Feel free to call 451-8520 and arrange a conference if the need arises. Please refer to our contact list so that each concern can be met in a timely manner.
Thank you,
Mr. Hugh Scott, Principal
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide a challenging curriculum for students of various academic levels with quality educational experiences. These experiences will foster independent thinking, promote responsibility, and teach the value of respect and diversity in order to be successful in a global society.
VISION
Southern Nash believes that strength through unity allows the faculty to create a collaborative educational setting that prepares our students for the 21st Century.
To lead us toward our mission, our school community shares the following beliefs:
SNHS strives to develop the academic ability of all students regardless of race, economic status, intellectual ability, and physical or mental disability.
SNHS must prepare students to be functioning and responsible citizens in a democratic society.
SNHS must provide opportunities to develop and nurture the growth of students as social beings in addition to the intellectual growth and development of students.
SNHS must assist students in developing the business, occupational, professional and technological skills necessary to become economically independent in a modern society.
SNHS must create and nourish a safe and orderly school environment in which students are free from mental or physical duress.
SNHS must prepare each student with the skills to be life-long learners and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing world.
