THE GOOD SHEPHERD This Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally referred to as "Good Shepherd Sunday." Today we listen to the words of the Lord as he refers to himself as the "good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep." It is sometimes so difficult for us to grasp the reality that anyone would lay down his or her own life for the sake of someone else. This is especially true in a society that places high value on power and personal advance-ment, often at the cost of "trampling" on other people in order to climb the ladder. Today's scriptures point to the one we are called to emulate--the one who lays down his life for his sheep. Farewell to Bishop Daly

There will be a diocesan-wide farewell to Bishop Daly, beginning with 11:30 Mass on Sunday, May 3, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph.

A reception will follow in the Cathedral Hall. Parish-ioners are invited to attend.

We will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this upcoming Friday, May 1st, beginning at 7:30 AM Mass and ending at 5 pm. At 12 noon we have benediction. Please join us for prayer. We have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every first Friday of the month.

My Dear People,

We have received news today that one of our priests, Monsignor Hien Minh Nguyen, has been arrested on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion. The Diocese has been cooperat-ing with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Internal Revenue Service into the conduct of Monsignor Hien since October of 2012.

Any facts in the matter are the part of the investigation, and only the IRS has the au-thority to make disclosures at a time of its choosing. We do not know when that might be. At the request of the IRS, we have had minimal direct communication with Mon-signor Hien. He is on a personal leave of absence, which he requested.

I would be grateful if you would keep all involved in your prayers at this time.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Imágenes antiguas de Cristo lo mostra-ban como un pastor joven cargando una ovejita en sus hombros. Él mismo se presenta como el buen Pastor (Juan 10:11). Esta imagen que nos conforta con el amor de Cristo, es en realidad una imagen radical. Hay que saber dos cosas sobre el pastor palestino de aquella época: 1) los pastores eran considerados sucios, peligrosos y ladrones, y 2) cuan-do cargaban una ovejita era porque ellos mismos le habían quebrado la pierna. ¿Porque Jesús se describe como uno de ellos? Jesús ve más allá de las aparien-cias y los estereotipos, y se asocia con aquellas personas que la sociedad de su tiempo odiaba y marginaba. Por volun-tad propia decide estar entre los pobres y despreciados. Si Jesús viniera a la tierra en nuestro tiempo, se describiría a sí mismo como el buen inmigrante. En cuanto a la ovejita sobre el hombre: en casos extremos, de ovejas rebeldes que se alejaban del rebaño, los pastores tenían que quebrarles la pierna para car-garlas sobre los hombros. De esta manera las amansaban para que no se alejaran de él. Dios no hace esto en no-sotros, pero tampoco nos evita el su-frimiento. EL BUEN PASTOR El Cuarto Domingo de Pascua tradicion-almente se conoce como el "Domingo del Buen Pastor". Hoy escuchamos las palabras del Señor cuando se llama a sí mismo "el buen pastor que da la vida por sus ovejas." A veces es tan difícil para nosotros comprender la realidad de que alguien esté dispuesto a dar su vida por alguien. Esto es muy cierto en una socie-dad que pone tanto énfasis en el poder y en el avance social, con frecuencia a expensas de "pisotear" a otra gente para escalar a la cima. Las Escrituras de hoy nos muestran a quién debemos imitar -al que da su vida por las ovejas. Mis Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo, Hemos recibido la noticia de que uno de nuestros sacerdotes, Monseñor Hien Minh Nguyen, ha sido arrestado por cargos de fraude bancario y evasión fiscal. La Dióce-sis ha estado cooperando con una investiga-ción criminal en curso con el Departamento de Rentas Internas (IRS) sobre la conducta de Monseñor Hien desde octubre del 2012.

Cualquier detalle de este caso es parte de la investigación, y sólo el IRS tiene la autoridad para hacer revelaciones en el momento de su elección. No sabemos cuándo podría ocu-rrir. A petición del IRS, nuestra comunica-ción directa con Monseñor Hien ha sido mínima. Él está en una licencia personal, la cual él pidió.

SINH HOẠT CÁC HỘI ĐOÀN * Mổi Chúa Nhật đầu tháng Hội Các Bà Mẹ Công

Giáo, Đoàn Liên Minh Thánh Tâm và Ca đoànsẽ họp sinh hoạt hàng tháng sau Thánh Lễ.

* Đoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể Martino trong niênhọc, mổi Chúa Nhật sẽ có sinh-hoạt từ 3:00 pmđến 5:00 pm tại Hội Trường nhà xứ.

* Legio Mariae họp vào mỗi chủ nhật từ8:30AM đến 10:00AM tại Văn Phòng Nhà Xứ.

*Hôm nay Cộng Đoàn quét dọn Nhà Thờ, kính mờiQuí Anh chị Em phụ giúp sau Thánh Lễ.

* Tháng 5 Kính Đức Mẹ, Cộng Đoàn Fatima sẽ córước Kiệu và dâng Hoa Đức Mẹ ngày 03 tháng 5năm 2015. Kính mời Cộng Đoàn tham dự.

* Lớp học hỏi Thánh Kinh vào mỗi tối thứ Ba từ 7giờ30 tối đến 8giờ30 tốido Cha Phó Xứ Nguyễn Phong hướng dẫn.

* Cộng Đoàn Fatima sẽ có chương trình sau đây:-Mỗi tối thứ sáu có Thánh Lể bắt đầu từ 7giờ30.-Mỗi tối thứ sáu đầu tháng có Chầu mìnhThánh Chúa, Thánh Lễ và Nghi Thức Xức Dầu.
