HAY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

The lights will be illuminated on Friday 29 November at7pm by Mac Eager, the unsung hero who has swept thestreets of Hay and emptied all the bins for 25 years.The school choirs will sing from 5pm, and there will be mulled wine, mince pies, and local shops sellingChristmas treats, including a Hay Festival ticket stall.

HAY FOOD FESTIVAL AND HAY DOES VINTAGE

Hay Food Festival runs 10am–4pm on Saturday 30 November, and on Sunday 1 December, Hay Does Vintage will be in town with their ‘Have Yourself aVery Vintage Christmas’ fayre. Visit the Market Squareand Buttermarket for an abundance of vintage andretro traders from 10.30am till 4pm.

TOTALLY LOCALLY

Totally Locally is coming to Hay! This national campaignaims to promote independent businesses by underliningthe importance of a thriving local economy. Totally Locally Hay is launching over the Winter Weekend, solook out for shops displaying the ‘Declaration of Independents’, many of whom will be open late withspecial offers for festival-goers.

It’s been an exciting year for Hay Castle. We’ve hunted dragon eggs with local school children;begun repairs on the ancient monument with heritageskills tutors and trainees; given guided tours to over 1,000people; seen our rickety stables blossom into a quaint rowof shops; hosted parties, lectures, concerts; and muchmore!

These events are the first important steps of a hugerestoration project that willone day see Hay Castle become a vital part of thetown and community, and weare particularly grateful to theFriends of Hay Castle who havehelped us on the journey so far.
