About Ketterlinus Elementary School

Named after Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ketterlinus who donated the land to the school district in 1924.

*Opened as a high school (“Mullets”) and became a middle school (“Hornets”) and eventually an elementary school.

*Our mascot is “Lizzie” the Dolphin.

Teaching Reading is Urgent

A student at the 10th percentile reads about 60,000 words a year in 5th grade.

A student at the 50th percentile reads about 900,000 words a year in 5th grade.

Average students receive about 15 times as much practice in a year.

2nd Grade Expectations

Display the six pillars of character: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Citizenship, Trustworthiness, and Fairness

Follow all Classroom, Hallway & Playground Rules

Be an appropriate role model for our younger students: be safe, courteous and thinking at all times.

Do their best on all assignments and tasks.

Fill in planner with homework and have it signed by a parent or guardian each night, complete any homework assignment and return folder to school each day. Student and Parent sign AVID communication tool nightly.
