RESPONSIBILITY
Behaviour – cloud system
It is the responsibility of your child to remember equipment like their P.E. kit and homework.
Trainers must be in school every day

Encourage your child to be as independent as possible.
CHALLENGE FOR ALL
During lessons, children are challenged regardless of their ability.
Choice of challenge.
Activities are differentiated in each lesson.
Moving seats.
Children choosing the level of difficulty.
Children are made aware of the expectations.
TOPIC
Art, History, Geography and Science are taught separately in 3-4 week blocks.
Children will cover all four subjects across two terms (every old term).
Encourage more depth across each of the subjects and equal coverage
ENGLISH
Mixture of fiction and non-fiction writing.
Guided Reading (whole class) is taught 5 days a week in class - Includes reading, reading comprehension, writing and speaking and listening.
English skills are developed in all areas of the curriculum.
MATHS
Increased emphasis on applying maths skills to real life situations and problem solving.
Arithmetic session weekly.
Cross curricular maths.
Ability groups, monitored regularly.
Sets may change if children are struggling or working particularly well.

Foundation Stage
Reading: at least 5 times a week

Spellings – every week (tested on a Monday)

HOMEWORK - READING
Children are expected to read at least 5 times a week.
You can read with your child, they can read to you, they can read independently or you can discuss what they have read.
Children need to record the book and page numbers read in their planner, in the yellow section at the back.
Responsible for changing own book – Accelerated Reader levels and quizzes.
Children choose their own books – class, library, home.
HOMEWORK - EXPECTATIONS
Children do their best – maximum effort.
We will mark the work promptly and return.
Homework will go out on a Monday and is due in on a Friday (I will sent this out in week 3).

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
If you have any concerns or worries about your child, please discuss this first with the class teacher
If your child is on the SEN register then class teachers will:
Send out a letter inviting you to complete a My Support Plan
Let you know how any interventions are going during Parents Evening, My Support Plan meetings and any other time you may want more information.
If you are worried or would like more information, please talk to the class teacher and arrange a meeting.
USEFUL REMINDERS
Lunch – ensure a healthy/balanced lunch is packed. (Hot school lunches are free up to Y2)
Water Bottles – provided by school (named).
Fruit – break time snack (this will be provided for FS and KS1)
Art shirts – named.
PE kits – should be in school every day.
Earrings – your child’s responsibility. They must be removed or taped for PE lessons.

TOYS IN SCHOOL
No extra items should be brought into school unless I have asked them to bring a specific item in.
If they have brought things in by accident, then they will be asked to place them in their book bag or in my cupboard.

Volunteers always welcome.
In September, there will be a meeting for anyone interested in joining.
