A GUIDE TO BILINGUAL SERVICES

As Episcopalians, we are very proud of the care and

intentionality of our liturgy, of its beauty, its struc-

ture and its freedom. This is a bilingual service. The

structure will be familiar in either language. During

the responses of the “People” you may use the lan-

guage you are most familiar with. The printed

words side by side help you locate yourself in the

worship structure. That means the Lord’s Prayer

and many other parts for the “People” may be said

simultaneously in two languages.

Communion: We will be using the Ushers to in-

vite the people from the pews and go up to the rail

to receive communion. We will not have a line in

the middle of the aisle.

While something is being read in a language you do

not understand, you may read along silently in

your preferred language.

Singing is done alternately, so that one can sing in

one’s preferred language.

UN GUÍA PARA MISAS BILINGÜES

Como Episcopales somos muy orgullosos del cuida-

do e intento de nuestra liturgia, de su belleza, su

estructura y su libertad. Esta Misa es bilingüe. La

estructura es reconocido en cualquier idioma. Du-

rante las respuestas del “Pueblo” uno puede utilizar

el idioma que prefiere. La presentación de las pala-

bras lado a lado debe ayudar a localizarse en la es-

tructura de la misa. Por consecuencia se recita el

Padre Nuestro y otras partes tocante al “Pueblo” se

puede hacer en dos lenguas simultáneamente.

Comunión: Hoy se utilizan los Ujieres para invitar

el pueblo salir de sus bancas e ir al riel para co-

mulgar. No se hará una fila en medio del pasillo.

Mientras que algo se lee en un idioma que uno no

entiende, puede uno leer en silencio en su idioma

preferido.

Cantar se hace alternando idiomas, para que uno

cante en su idioma preferido

O God, because without you we are not able to please

you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all

things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ

First Lesson Exodus 32:7-14

The Lord said to Moses, "Go down at once! Your

people, whom you brought up out of the land of

Egypt, have acted perversely; they have been

quick to turn aside from the way that I command-

ed them; they have cast for themselves an image

of a calf, and have worshiped it and sacrificed to

it, and said, `These are your gods, O Israel, who

brought you up out of the land of Egypt!'" The

Lord said to Moses, "I have seen this people, how

stiff-necked they are. Now let me alone, so that

my wrath may burn hot against them and I may

consume them; and of you I will make a great na-

tion." But Moses implored the Lord his God, and

said, "O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot

against your people, whom you brought out of

the land of Egypt with great power and with a

mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, `It

was with evil intent that he brought them out to

kill them in the mountains, and to consume them

from the face of the earth'? Turn from your fierce

wrath; change your mind and do not bring disas-

ter on your people. Remember Abraham, Isaac,

and Israel, your servants, how you swore to them

by your own self, saying to them, `I will multiply

your descendants like the stars of heaven, and all

this land that I have promised I will give to your

descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.'"

And the Lord changed his mind about the disas-

ter that he planned to bring on his people.

flowed for me with the faith and love that are in

that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as

patience, making me an example to those who

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you

pueblo el Cuerpo y la Sangre de tu Hijo, la santa comida

y la santa bebida de la vida nueva en él que no tiene fin.

Santo Sacramento y seamos perseverantes en tu servicio

en paz y unidad. Y en el día postrero, llévanos con todos

tus santos al gozo de tu reino eterno.

Todo esto te pedimos por tu Hijo Jesucristo. Por él, y con

él y en él, en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, tuyos son el

honor y la gloria, Padre omnipotente, ahora y por siem-
