EEDA and the School Registration Process
• Career cluster process has helped to narrow the focus for elective courses.
• Career clusters will have NO effect on core curriculum
• Teacher recommendations are only necessary for the core curriculum classes.
• Career clusters are part of electives.
U.S. History
• Split into 2 classes.
• Class 1: U.S. History to 1877
• Class 2: U.S. History 1877 to present.
• Students are only required to take class 2 however the school strongly recommends that students take both classes. This is because of the End of Course Exam.
About Your Guidance Meeting…
• Purpose of Appointment• Guidance will send a letter with a
scheduled time.• If time is inconvenient please call to
reschedule.• It is important that student/parent has
already discussed career choices and classes before meeting with guidance counselor.
Summary
• Difference between Core Curriculum/Electives/Career Clusters
• Deadlines for Registration Process
• Graduation Requirements
• Importance of Parent/Student dialogue before guidance meeting.
• There will be no schedule changes without administrative approval.
