From the Principal…

WELCOME TO TERM 2 Our Term 2 will be a very different one. As previously advised our school will continue to operate in the same mode as it was at the end of Term 1 for the first two weeks of this term. This means that the majority of children will be learning from home. It is important that parents continue the learning at home on these first 2 weeks. Staff will continue planning learning units for you to do with your children on the days they are not at school. The time will also be used to prepare for your children to return to school one day a week from Week 3.

Please keep an eye on the school Facebook page and the School ENews app for information and updates.

Thank you for the many positive comments you are making about our school on social media. The school is making every effort to keep in touch.

MANAGED RETURN TO SCHOOL Parents will be advised via Facebook and our school app on Friday 1 May how we will manage the return to school for our students. The children will return in House groups on either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. This organisation will allow family groups to come to school on the same day. Members of the teaching staff will be present at school every day however, the teacher your child has on their day at school may not be their normal class teacher. As was the case at the end of term, children of emergency services workers will continue to be at school as many days as needed to support their working parents. Your support in the implementation of a managed return to school is greatly appreciated.

KEEPING IN TOUCH Teachers will continue to make contact with their students from tomorrow. When a new roster is introduced at the beginning of Week 3, all calls to children will be made on a Wednesday. This will commence on Wednesday 12 May. Please be prepared to accept a ‘no called ID’ call on Wednesdays.

CANTEEN Our school canteen will recommence operations on Monday May 11. Mrs Elliott will operate the canteen on her own and she expects to offer the full menu. She would appreciate if orders could be written on a piece of paper and the money could come to school in a zip lock bag. Breakfast items will be served as usual. Children will be able to purchase snack items during lunchtime on the day they are at school.

DRIVE THROUGH TO PICK UP WORK Our thanks go to Club Umina for allowing us to use the drive through on Monday so parents could pick up the work plan for this week. It went very smoothly and we will continue to distribute the work each Monday at Club Umina until further notice. Pick up times for next Monday will be 10:00am until noon. Please note this variation in time.

MARKED WORK This can be collected from Club Umina driveway on Thursday 30 April. Family names A-L should come between 9:00am and 10:00am. Family names L-Z between 10:00am and 11:00am.
