St. Joseph’s Hospital-South Community Open HouseThe St. Joseph’s Hospital-South Community Open House on January 17 was a major success, with over 5,000 in attendance. The BMG table, spearheaded by Kathy Sadler, manager of Physician Recruitment and Development, distributed information about our physicians and services and answered questions from the South Shore community. Also at the table and representing BMG were site manager Lou Ann Robinson and her staff, family medicine physicians Frederick Taylor, DO, and Moriam Ayo-Amu, MD, orthopedic surgeon Richard Cain, MD, medical oncologist Vita Saranga-Perry, MD, and transition coordinator Nikki Cichanski.

Accelerated GE and Cerner Rollout for HMG LegacyA successful go-live of the GE Centricity practice management system for Morton Plant Primary Care and Specialists (MPM) occurred on February 2 with very few problems. MPM is now rolling out their Cerner Ambulatory EMR. The GE go-live for HealthPoint Medical Group (HMG) has been moved up from July 1 to May 1. Cerner will now be rolled out in phases (six groups) starting June 15 instead of one large go-live. Greg Witte, part of BMG Project Management for this effort, shared, “This will allow better at-the-elbow support for physicians and staff.”Preparations for the accelerated schedule for HMG have already begun. External resources are manually entering 30,000+ appointments from IDX into GE, and site managers are building the physician scheduling templates in GE. If they have not already done so, practice staff should register for the GE class as soon

as possible in the Online Learning Center, as it must be completed by April 10. The course numbers are as follows:■ GE Front Desk Training: A5916 (two-day

course, includes Cerner training for MORs)

■ GE Site Manager/MOR+ Training: A6024 (1/2-day course, taken just before GE go-live; registration can only occur AFTER completion of A5916)

■ Cerner Clinical Course: A6050 (one-day course)

Debra Hayward, manager of Operations Improvement and Training, reported 400 MPM providers and staff members were trained by her team in GE, and over 100 have been trained in Cerner. Her team will train 600 HMG providers and staff before May 1. Deb reports that feedback from some

nurses indicate they were very happy they set up their Cerner Profile and Favorites before their go-live, as it made their transition a smooth one. For providers, reviewing the documentation before class and practicing within the system prior to go-live, should make their transition easier. For the Cerner EMR go-live, it is recommended patient schedules be reduced, gradually working back toward pre-transition volume.

Tiffany Todd, NP (L), trains on Cerner EMR.

The question “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” has been announced as BMG’s KPI for 2015. The new goals are Stretch-86, Target-81, Threshold-75 and Below Threshold <75. Although this question specifically mentions the provider, we all have a hand in helping them meet our patients’ needs through the various types of services and support we provide. Our annual Team Award is partially based on responses to this question on our Patient Satisfaction Survey.

Two additional questions have been targeted for performance improvement: “How well staff worked together to care for you” and “Degree to which you were informed about any delays.” These have consistently been among our top ten priorities and are known to be important to our patients’ overall satisfaction. While specific goals have not been set for these two questions, practices that work to improve in these areas should see a correlated improvement in their overall scores, which should then increase our group overall score.

2015 Key Performance Indicator Question Announced Clinical research

trials are now open for enrollment at the offices of Drs. Michael Burnette and Joel Silverfield at Habana Adult in Tampa and Vonderburg Adult in Brandon, and at the office of Dr. Julio Gonzalez-Paoli at Suncoast Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus and fibromyalgia who qualify for a trial will receive study-related care and study medication at no cost. The referring physician is kept informed of all relevant test results and study progress. We are

actively seeking physicians who are interested in research to work with us and increase the research capability at BayCare. To refer a patient, get details about clinical research or a particular trial, and to set up a presentation about research at your office, call (813) 840-3600, ext. 5039. Details are also available by following the clinical research link at HealthPointMedicalGroup.com.

Dr. Augustine Agocha at Cardiology/Heart Failure in Tampa is excited to announce the availability of cardiac event monitoring and comprehensive echocardiography in the

MAB office, including same-day or next-day service with reports and alerts placed in the EHR.

Dr. Zaruhi Babayan, who joined the practice in March, will focus on providing comprehensive, individualized care to women from a female perspective, with an

emphasis on preventive cardiology. Please obtain an authorization before allowing them to assist in the care of your patients. The office number is (813) 397-1251.

Drs. Dean Gobo, Harold Colbassini, and Carrie Shulman (Center for Neurosurgical and Spine Care), are utilizing the new Mazor Robotics Renaissance® Guidance System for spine surgery at Morton Plant Hospital. Dr. Gobo is also using the robot for deep brain stimulation cases. The office number is (727) 298-6121.

General surgeons Forrest Haslup, MD, and Quan Tran, MD (Van Dyke Specialty), now perform robotic-assisted surgery. Dr. Tran also performs transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), a completely incisionless procedure for safely and effectively treating chronic acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

The office number is (813) 264-6490.
