EMPOWERING LEARNING
In our learning each half term, we are including a focus on skills that empower learning, to support children in the following areas – Independent enquiry, team work, reflective learning, effective participation, self management and resourceful thinking. This will be across the whole school, with activities matched to suit the age of the children. This half term’s focus is learning how to be an ‘Effective Participator’. Teachers are ensuring that learning opportunities and tasks give children opportunities to practice and improve these skills.
The overarching skills for Effective Participation are:
Engage actively with issues that affect them and those around
them.
• Play a full part in the life of the school
Take responsible action to bring improvement for others as well as themselves
• Discuss issues of concern, seeking resolution
• Present a persuasive case for action
• Propose practical ways forward
Try to influence others, negotiating and balancing diverse views
Please encourage your child(ren) at home.

Socks
The medical room are running low on older children's socks. If you can spare any, the
medical room would be pleased to receive them. Thank you
We are offering parents that drop off children early for booster groups the
opportunity to bring siblings in to read in our library. Parents will need to stay
with their child to ensure the library is kept tidy.

Rudy
Rudy has grown a lot over Christmas and is enjoying being back in school! She is now nearly 5 months old and has started evening training classes – she has made friends there with another puppy called Marley and they spend rather too much time playing together than doing any work or paying attention! Despite this, her training is going really well – lots of you may have seen her walking on the field before school and then sitting on the KS2 playground when the children come in. She is really making progress with not jumping up and walking on the lead without pulling. Thank you to everyone for keeping a distance from her when she’s training – it will be worth it once she’s a beautifully behaved adult dog.
