PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE It is amazing to believe that we entered October and Mid-Term grades are next week! That is correct, on Wednesday, October 7th Mid-Term grades will be posted and mailed home. As you remember, the ASD and ARHS are on a quarter system due to Distance Learning. This means October 7th is the midpoint for Qtr 1 classes. NEW classes for Qtr 2 will begin on November 16th. It is important to keep open communications with your son and/or daughter and their teachers throughout this quarter regarding learning progress. As well, continue to check your Skyward accounts to review grades. With only a little over a month left of Qtr 1 classes, supporting and keeping them motivated now will help with their final grade success. Thanks for all that you do at home to support learning. We understand that Distance Learning has been tough on both our staff, who are trying to provide quality education and support online, and our families who are trying to support learning and emotional health at home. Hang in there, as together, WE are ARand we will get through this. ~ David Halford, Principal Where personalized learning reaches and develops every R.A.V.E.N.

AR TIME

ARHS has a 30-minute period in between the 1st and 2nd period of the school day. This is labelled on a student’s schedule as 8th period,

GEN408 HSBP. For the first four weeks of school, your student’s teacher for 8th period will be the same as his/her 1st period teach-

er. This period will be used to orient students on a variety of school and state subjects (Ex: Student Handbook, Chromebook How

To’s, HIV/AIDS presentation, High School and Beyond Planning, etc.). After Mid-tern 1 grades are posted on Oct. 7th, students will be assigned to either an inter-

vention support or enrichment support to match their individual needs based on the posted grades. More information about Intervention/Enrichment assignments

will be forthcoming.

CHROMEBOOKS, TEXTBOOKS, PAYMENTS, ENROLLMENT, LIBRARY BOOKS, ETC.

For items that cannot be taken care of over the phone or email, these services will be provided at the Main Entry in the front center of the build-ing. There will be signage posted to guide you to the appropriate window for your needs. Please understand these will be walk up services and the building is still closed for entry.

These services will include but not limited to: Enrollment/Withdrawals, Chromebook Repair, Payments with bookkeeper, Transcripts, Library Books, Textbooks, Class Packets, Work Permit approvals, etc.

Hours to take care of these items are 7:30am - 9:30am; 11:30am—12:30pm and 3:00pm—3:30pm. Again, these services will be held in the front center of the building with lunches continuing to be served at the back of the building, in the bus loading zone. Please understand the building is closed for public access and this will be for walk up traffic only, so you will need to consider the weather when visiting. Please do not forget your masks. Thank you!

and signed up. Click here for AP Test Ordering Procedures.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

September has been Suicide Prevention Month. Though this focus may be ending as the month comes to a close, we realize the need to remain aware and keep this concern on our radar. A recent data release showed that 24.7% of 8-20 year olds have contem-plated suicidal thoughts during this pandemic. Covid has been difficult for many people, young and old. Approaching someone who is struggling can be difficult, but it’s worth the discomfort to help save a life. If you encounter a friend or family member who is strug-gling or having thoughts of harming themselves, here are some suggestions in how to help someone with suicidal thoughts:

1. If you are concerned, ask the person if they are thinking about dying or killing themselves.

2. Start a conversation with the person and listen without judging to show you care.

3. Don’t leave the person alone until you can get further help.

4. If you suspect the person could be a harm to themselves, take them seriously.

5. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or 24 hour crisis line 1-866-427-4747 or Call 911.
