  • COMMUNICATIONS: BETWEEN PARENTS

66% of parents report that they call ahead to other parents before a party most or all of the time. 54% of parents of juniors or seniors 79% of parents of freshmen or sophomores

However, just 41% of students believe that their parents make these calls most or all of the time.

91% of parents would definitely or probably inform another parent if they learned that a party involving alcohol or drugs occurred at another parents house.

If such a platform existed, 88% of parents would use an anonymous, confidential way of communicating with other parents about alcohol and drug use among students.

Please be vigilant and communicate regularly with other like minded parents. Parent Parents should not hesitate to communicate with each other about what they see. We are the best, most closely watching network of support for our children. Don't be shy about sharing observa

  • COMMUNICATIONS: BETWEEN TEENS

51% of students who drink monthly or more 77% of students who do not drink monthly or more

93% of students say they would absolutely or probably intervene if they saw a peer about to drink and drive.

88% of students who drink monthly or more 95% of students who drink monthly or more

However: just 13% of students would definitely or more than likely tell if they knew of a party where underage drinking was happening.

We need to focus on safety and on calling out our friends. We get lectures telling us not to drink, but we don't learn what to do if our friend is passed out or wants to get behind the wheel. Focus on alcohol, not drugs. The only drug high school students I know do is marijuana, and they're not the ones overdosing or crashing cars or passing out. Accept that teenagers are going to drink and smoke, then teach them how to be safe. Student
