See separate document for the home vertical jump scale and the document to record your

scores.

Parents it is wise to read all of this information before the lesson. Obviously, you don’t have

to submit your results, however I know how any competitive families we have and thought

you would like the opportunity. How to do this is written on the documents and also the you

tube page that it refers to.

Let the games begin.

With your parents’ permission pick a flower eg daffodil, muscari, daisy, primrose, tulips etc.

Use the viewfinder to look at the different parts or sections of the flower.

Take the flower apart carefully and lay out all the parts of the flower.

Draw the parts of the flower using the viewfinder.

Draw the flower in its natural setting or in a container eg jug, bottle, vase.

Add your own background – natural or fantasy.

Plants

Use the viewfinder to look at parts of the plant.

Draw parts of the plant in close-up detail.

You could use crayons, paint or plasticine to recreate the plant.

Think about plants with strong outline shapes eg palm, cactus etc.

Insects

You could take a close up photograph of the insect so it can be released quickly back to its natural habitat!

If you are not taking a photo, you could make a mini viewfinder to look at the different parts!

For more ideas on zentangles, with your parents’ supervision, you could look at this school website:

An example list for a time capsule buried in 2018

- You could present your work

as a photo of the objects to be included

a labelled picture of the objects to be included

a film recording: including an explanation of the objects included

Challenge for everyone: decide what you would include in a time capsule to show people in the

future what it is like to live as a child in 2020. You can have a maximum of 15 items.

Remember to think carefully about what people in the future might be interested in knowing

about.

Extra challenges

You could:

-write a letter that you would include in the time capsule for the discoverer to read.

Week 3- My favourite things- likes and dislikes.

All Classes-

Activity 1- list or draw your favourite things- food, drink, colour, book, TV

programme/film, song/music artist, toy, animal, place.

Discuss your favourite things with your family and ask them questions to find

out about their favourite things too. Do you and your family have similar

favourite things?

Activity 2- make a chart/table with the headings “Things I like” and “Things I

dislike”. Alternatively use the one provided on the next page.

Record (either through listing or drawing) the things you like and dislike. This

could be in general or you could choose to have a focus such as, foods that I

like and dislike.

Activity 3 (optional)- if you have a sibling who has also recorded their likes

and dislikes, compare your likes and dislikes with theirs. Are there similarities?

Are there differences? It doesn’t have to be with a sibling, parents if you want

to, you could also create a list of your likes and dislikes too, then you can

compare your likes and dislikes with your child/children.
