• Listen to a conversation between a husband and a wife; answer these questions

• Repeat the conversation after me and practice it one time with a partner

“miss (the/my) train/bus/flight”
• MEANING: not get on a train/bus/plane because you arrive late!
• PAST TENSE = missed
• I hit traffic on the freeway, so I missed my flight!
• I’m so sorry I’m late today! I overslept and missed the bus!
• YOU CAN ALSO MISS: • An appointment, a party, a class, a test, etc.
“miss (a person/thing/place)”
• “miss” has another important meaning!
• MEANING #2: to feel sad because you are not with a person or at a place
• I miss my family in Chicago. I have not been able to visit for five years!
• I miss my free time. I’m too busy now, and I don’t have time for myself.
