This statement really resonates with me. I often feel like there is so much to do and I can't contrib- ute in a grand way so I simply do nothing. I feel so small, insignificant and helpless when I look at the problems that our country faces, when I see so many without Christ and know that most probably don't know it and likely don't care. The world is so big and the people and its problems are so nu- merous it is easy to simply say I can't do anything about it. So…I'll just do nothing! What if Noah, Esther or Jesus had said "The problems are too big, I am only one person. I can't contribute much so I am just going to do noth- ing." The great things God can do with that one person who resolves within themselves that with God's help I can and I will do something! Little things that seem insignificant can actually be great things with long lasting mean- ing. Consider the men chosen to minister to widows in Acts 6. There was a prob- lem that needed attention. Some of the widows were being neglected in the "daily distribution". Simply put, some of the widows were not getting basic necessities to sustain their lives. The apostles already had work to do, praying and "ministry of the word", so seven men were chosen and given the task of caring for the widows. What if those seven felt like they were too good to be caring for widows? What if they felt they needed "more important" work in the church? Well, the problem would have gone unattended and likely would have grown worse. But fortunately, those men didn't feel like they were above that work. They took on that work and did it well. As a result, the wid- ows were cared for and the apostles could give full attention to their work of praying and preaching. Consider Tabitha, Acts 9:36. The bible describes this woman as, "Full of good works and charitable deeds which she did". Her life was "full", filled to the brim with works that were to be considered good and deeds that were loving and charitable. Little is written about her but what is written gives a full de- scription of this woman's character. scripturally allowed to do. She did not endlessly lament her limitations. (Cont. on page 4)

Edmund Burke once said "The greatest mistake man makes is choosing to

do nothing because he feels he can only do a little". This statement really

resonates with me. I often feel like there is so much to do and I can't contrib-

ute in a grand way so I simply do nothing. I feel so small, insignificant and

helpless when I look at the problems that our country faces, when I see so

many without Christ and know that most probably don't know it and likely

don't care. The world is so big and the people and its problems are so nu-

merous it is easy to simply say I can't do anything about it. So…I'll just do

nothing! What if Noah, Esther or Jesus had said "The problems are too big, I

am only one person. I can't contribute much so I am just going to do noth-

ing." The great things God can do with that one person who resolves within

themselves that with God's help I can and I will do something! Little things

that seem insignificant can actually be great things with long lasting mean-

ing.

Consider the men chosen to minister to widows in Acts 6. There was a prob-

lem that needed attention. Some of the widows were being neglected in the

"daily distribution". Simply put, some of the widows were not getting basic

necessities to sustain their lives. The apostles already had work to do, praying

and "ministry of the word", so seven men were chosen and given the task of

caring for the widows. What if those seven felt like they were too good to be

caring for widows? What if they felt they needed "more important" work in

the church? Well, the problem would have gone unattended and likely would

have grown worse. But fortunately, those men didn't feel like they were

above that work. They took on that work and did it well. As a result, the wid-

ows were cared for and the apostles could give full attention to their work of

praying and preaching.

Romans 5:12-14

This has been a sad and heart wrench-ing week for all at West Side as we lift up the following families in prayer and sincerest sympathy:

--The Ralph Zeek Family. Wife, Vada passed away on March 5th at age 80 and was buried last Wednesday. She was mother to Brenda and Mark (deceased), grandmother and great-grandmother.

--The Jennifer Clark Family. Jennifer’s mother, Betty Ann Bess, passed away on March 7th in Muncie. She was 76, the wife of Billy Joe, mother of six, grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of two. Her funeral ser-vice was held on Friday.

--The family of our Sister, Dana Shaw. Dana’s oldest son, Doug Shaw, passed away on March 8th in Muncie. He was 51 years old: husband to Sheila, father to Brittany, grandfather toConner and brother to Steve. His service was held yesterday in Gaston.

“Rejoice with them that do rejoice and weep with them that weep.”
