Website Analysis

Page 2: Website Analysis

The purpose of the kidulthood website seems to revolve around the main character who is seen in the poster as the guy with the baseball bat in his hand. it also seems to want to be promoting the DVD. The same house style is used, the fonts are all the same to keep with

the consistency and branding of the film. The don't is bold and stands out to the audience. this is therefore the first thing that my eyes are drawn to on the website. the quote “the most

controversial film of the year” is in a GIF form which changes each second, this is a multimedia feature that you possibly would not see on other posters as it is not interactive. it seems as if the same image has been used for the poster and the website of the guy, this

image of him has just been flipped around to make it appear different. there is graffiti like fonts used at the bottom to link to youth, crime and gangs, all

conventions of the hood crime genre.

Just like the poster for the film, it has the same image of harry brown for the website. A different image may not have been used because they did not want to give much about the film away. Also they could have been trying to make the branding of the film stand out. there is an extra quote which is not on the poster which is “caine is as powerful as

ever!” to give the audience a sense of wheat they will have in store for them if they watch the film. The website is interactive which means that there has been social media links put on to it so that they can notify others about this film and therefore they will get a larger audience for the film. The exact same house style has been used for the poster and the website making the both look very similar, this is effective as the film can then be remembered however it could be seen as negative as the target audience may just

get bored of looking at the same think. The audience would want to know more.

The way that ill manors have set out their website it very different to others but it very similar to its poster. The colour scheme is identical. This helps with the branding of the film so that the audience remembers it and then goes to watch the film. The same fonts are also used. The link between the poster and website is very obvious, this helps with the identity of the

film. A different image has been used on the website however this is normal and does not go against any codes or conventions. The main image is centred and is the length of the

screen. You therefore are instantly drawn to it. It is extremely eye catching. The background is also interactive which would allow the audience to explore the page which means they

could be more likely to watch the film. For my trailer i plan on basing it around this website.
