webquest assignment review

WebQuest Assignment:
! For this assignment, we were instructed to make two WebQuests, which is an internet
scavenger hunt that is restricted to links that the maker provides. The first WebQuest that we
were to make was on a website called Zunal. This site creates pages for you, that you just need to
edit, and add your information. Making a WebQuest, you must have different pages to lead your
students through their research. There needs to be a welcome page, an introduction page, a task
page, a process page, an evaluation page, conclusion page, and teacher page.
Next, on powerpoint, we created our own pages just like the ones that were provided on Zunal.
We made a different WebQuest, that still provided links, that could be used for student research.
!WebQuest Assignment Review:
! I have had an experience using Zunal before. In a class that I had last semester, we had to
choose and review one that had already been made. Therefor, I was familiar with the main idea
of a WebQuest, and the setup of most of them. I had never however made one of my own.
As the pattern has been in this class, this assignment would fall under the project based learning
pillar of 21st century education. We were able to look over others WebQuests that they had
created and them use what we learned to make one of our own. Critical thinking, also plays a
role in the making and doing of a WebQuest. I would help my children, not only by learning a
subject when using a WebQuest, but also by applying critical thinking to do research. In a
classroom of my own, I would use WebQuests to get my students on the road to research.
Learning to do a WebQuest, my students will take on a role, and work in that role to learn and
create their final product. I would most likely not have younger children making their own
WebQuest. I would focus on having them understand and work through WebQuests that I had
made for them to use. Using it with young children I might expand the importance of the “task”
page. Creating a story and reason why they are doing this research would be very exciting to
them, and make them want to work on it.
