Two of the historical events that helped bring about the Scientific Revolutionwere the Age of exploration and the Reformation. Starting in the 1400s, theEuropean Age of Exploration involved many countries looking outward andexploring areas that had never been seen by Europeans before. This thirst fordiscovery helped fuel the curiosity and experimentation of the ScientificRevolution. The Reformation, which involved questioning traditional authority,

led Europeans to question old theories and beliefs revolving around the naturalworld and moved them to come with their own answers to age old questions.

    0-5The Scientific Method

We are going to evaluate the Scientific Method by using a tool calledWordle.

Wordle gives us a great way to quickly evaluate a large document for keythemes and ideas.

    Access my wikiWeek 6November 19

Step 1 - Click on wordle.net Step 2 - Click on the selected website Step 3 - Select and copy ALL text from the Introduction to the Conclusion Step 4 - Post it into Wordle and create a word cloud.

    13/24

Step 5 - When you have generated your word cloud, pick the 10largest BRICK words that are displayed. Write/type these in yournotes.

Step 6 Use as many of 10 brick words from above to generate adescription of the Scientific Method.

    Example

The ScientificMethodis a processwhere experimentsare used to measureand testnew

ideas and the resultsare used to create newscientifictheories.

One of the most important discoveries of the Scientific Revolutionwas that of Gravity.

    0-5Gravity

force of attraction by which objects falltoward the center of the earth.

The Law of Gravity was founded bySir Isaac Newton.

Three Laws of Motion which explain how the physical laws directthe motion of objects. Newtons discoveries have formed the foundation of many principles in the

    field of Physics.

Influenced by the Renaissance, Age of Exploration, and the Reformation, theScientific Revolution was a movement that witnessed many innovations anddiscoveries that impact our lives today. First, important scientific instrumentslike the telescope and microscope have opened our eyes to new worlds thatcould not otherwise be seen by the naked eye. Second, the Scientific Methodhas provided countless scientists with a road map to follow when engaging inscientific inquiry. And third, Newtons theories concerning gravity and motionhave influenced physical science for over three centuries, providing people an
