Activity 1 Communication Language and Literacy - Talking timeTalk about:

What the word rhino is short for Why the rhinos might be grunting, groaning, roaring and

raging Why the words ‘stomp’ are in capital letters (to show that

they need to be read louder) How many rhinos there are and if they are all the same or

different Where the horns are on a rhino and what other animals have

horns What the word ‘romp’ and ‘stomp’ means (to play roughly

and with lots of energy) What is happening to little mouse Where the exclamation mark is and why we might have 2 on

Activity 4 – Physical Development – Minute challenge

Let’s get active.Find a space – outside would be the best but you can do this with some space inside.See how many of these actions you can do in a minute. Get a grown up to set a timer and help you to count.

Stomps – like the RhinoJumps – like the MonkeyKicks – like the DonkeyFlaps – like the Ostrich

Waddles - like the Penguin

Can you think of some more actions that other animals might do?See if you can play again and try and do more in this time.Maybe you can write down how many of each you did?Challenge a grown up to see if they can beat you!

Activity 5 Literacy Reading – Read like Rhino Rhino is a really good reader but he needs help answering these questions about his animal friends. Play ‘The Yes/No game’ with a grown up to help him find out the answersYou be Rhino and read the questions and get the your grown up to answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’. You might like to make a card with the word ‘yes’ on and one with the word ‘no’ on so they can show you the correct answer. You could make them. Be warned - some of them aren’t that easy to answer! (NB purple- Phase 3, green - Phase 4)
