About MTCA

Musical Theatre Competitions of America was founded to provide an entertaining and educational competitive experience for high school, junior high, and middle school musical theatre students. We are dedicated to helping directors build their musical theatre programs by providing ensembles and individual students the opportunity to perform for experienced adjudicators in a quality theatrical venue.

What does the festival experience look like?

In the Ensemble and Musical Revue competitions, outstanding adjudicators will make written comments during each 10-12 minute musical performance or revue. Following each performance, one of the adjudicators will give an on-stage clinic specific to your group, focusing on positive feedback and suggestions on ways to improve.

In the Solo and Duet competitions, experienced musical theatre adjudicators will make written comments during each Solo or Duet competitor's 6 minute performance. After the performance, judges will offer positive feedback and suggestions.

While at MTCA, schools will participate in three workshops at the Disneyland Resort. An exciting and entertaining special MTCA awards ceremony will be held at the Disneyland Resort where schools and individual students will be recognized and honored. And, of course, over the two day festival experience, students, directors, and chaperones will have time to enjoy Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure.

During the competitions, students are encouraged to be audience members as well as participate in various master workshops offered throughout the day on topics from both the technical and the performance aspects of a production.

When you are at MTCA you represent NSAA as well, and we want the experience to be a positive and successful educational experience for you as well.

Fundraisers

As of right now, I have a couple dates and different options for fundraisers. If you are interested in helping us out with any of our fundraising please email me at [email protected] and I will sign you up for that fundraising opportunity. Ticket sales at events need to go to paying for royalties and the rights for these shows; this is why I have doubled some shows to be fundraisers as well. Any leftover items will be sold at lunch to continue fundraising. Once a final tally has been figured, then we can determine the amount of money that the total cost for the competition has been reduced. Hopefully, when this occurs underpayments can pay the remaining and overpayments will be returned.

September 25- “Pantomime Show”. Silent Auction Fundraiser. We need items donated for auction. This can include items around the house or donated items.

Oct 23 – Musical Theatre Juries. Sell items during show Oct 30 – Comedy Night. Bake Sale, Please bring your scariest baked goods. Dec 4 - Winter Showcase. Raffle. We need items donated to raffle off.
