A cell is the simple building block of life. Cells make up all living things, which can be made up of just one cell or large groups of many cells. Humans are made up of trillions of cells.

Cells are the smallest unit of life. Cells can take in food and change that food into energy. Cells do many different things in our bodies. Here is a paramecium—a simple cell you will likely study in science.

A polar bear's white color is another way in which polar bears are adapted to their surroundings. The color of a polar bear allows it to blend in with the snow. This makes it easy for them to sneak up on the animals that they hunt for food.
