PUZZLE PIECE MYSTERY BOOK PROJECT Materials Needed: Puzzle Pieces Mystery story map sheet Colored poster board Brown paper bag for clues Colored pencils/crayons/scissors Mystery stories are written puzzles made for a reader. To complete this project, you will make a nine-piece puzzle that gives the reader clues about the story you have read independently. You will share this project with your class when you have finished. Procedure: o Choose a mystery book and check it in with your teacher so there are no duplicate book reports in the class. o Fill in the mystery story map table as an outline of your book. o Choose 4 small items that will fit into a brown paper lunch sack that are clues to your mystery. (make sure you put your name on the outside of the bag) o Create your puzzle pieces with the information from your story as follows: 1. Number your puzzle pieces 1-9 and label each section with its title. 2. Piece #1 - a creative display of the title and author of the book (your name also) 3. Piece #2 should tell the reader about the main character and secondary characters in your book and include a picture of the main character. 4. Piece #3 – tell the reader about the setting of the book. (time and place) 5. Piece #4 – tell the reader about the problem of the book. 6. Piece #5-6 – tell the reader about the main events of the book.
