Interdisciplinary Learning: Our Amazing World We will look at many aspects of our Natural and Human Made World guided by the children’s interests, topical events and Curriculum for Excellence. Please email any suggestions to or through Twitter or our Face Book page. We will continue to incorporate a play-based approach to our learning activities where possible. We will also continue to plan activities that allow pupils to work in a multi- sensory way including the use outdoor learning and loose parts where possible. These may include lifecycles and living things. What I will be learning in P1 Term 4 2019-20 Successful Learner Effective Contributor Confident Individual Responsible Citizen Discrete Subjects Learning grids with details of activities and learning will be posted on the school website each week and twitter challenges will also be posted each week. Literacy - Phonics We will continue to consolidate the work covered on Block Two of Literacy Rich alongside Jolly Phonic. We will be looking at the following consonant and vowel digraphs ai/ay, ee/ea/, oa/ow, igh/-y, ew/oo, oi/oy, ou/ow and au/aw. We will use this knowledge within the context of building and segmenting words, creating/reading sentences whilst continuing to learn new tricky words. Literacy - Reading We will continue to suggest a range of focused reading materials to further develop reading skills. There will be an emphasis on comprehension and enjoyment. We will use blooms questions to support comprehension. Literacy - Writing We will continue to provide challenges which will develop building words and sentences. We also will continue to develop our letter formation using the letter formation suggestions in the weekly grid and the letter formation guide provided in the P1 work pack. We will practice using common words correctly using the daily activities provided in the grid. Numeracy We will continue developing our numeracy skills through a range of activities in the weekly grid as well as the weekly challenge posted on Twitter. These will be following the progression of the Stages of Early Arithmetical Learning. (SEAL). We will work on counting forwards and backwards to support mental addition, subtraction and problem-solving skills. We will also look at sharing out equally as the foundation to division skills. Health & Wellbeing Focusing on taking care of our health and wellbeing, in what is a challenging time, is more important than ever. Activities will be included in weekly grids as well as a weekly Twitter challenge. We will also move onto the next unit of our whole school Building Resilience programme – Making a Difference. Activities will be on weekly grids, and school website. Content will also be posted on the school Face Book page which will help us to keep connected. We will also be learning about Internet safety.
