This was my first idea for my magazine cover. I chose this image because it is different, however it also links in with music videos as the man is holding a camera and could be filming for a music video. I like it because I think it looks professional and it is simple but still says a lot. However some people may not think that the image is relevant and find it strange.I then went on to experiment with different fonts to see what looked best.

I felt I needed a bold one so that my audience didn’t struggle reading the title as it is over sharks and they might find it hard to read.

This font is called Hobo, I think because it is bold it works well however to me it looks child like and I feel that it is not the right font for my magazine cover.

On this one I changed the text around to see what it would look like but I felt that it was better the other way because I am still to add the ‘Rough Guide’ Logo and I want to place that at the bottom.I also asked my peers what one they preferred and they said that the one before was stronger and easier to read.

I like this font however it seems hard to read because it is only thin and the E may get disguised being over the shark.

I then tried the font in bold but it did not look the same and was then too big.

I also experimented using these different fonts. Although I thought that I needed to use a bold font on my magazine cover, every one that I used I did not like and thought it looked to child like and big. I went with Century Gothic Bold (image to the left).

I chose this because it was easy to read and bold but still looks professional.

I used this image because I thought that it was different, simple but still stood out.

I experimented with the font and thought that it looked better placed in the center.

Also the bold text matched the glasses and all worked well together. The font is Hobo, even though I didn’t like it on my previous idea I think that it looked good with this.

I showed my peers this idea and they preferred it to my first one but said I should try different colours.

I tried to use red but thought that it looked awful. The colour was too over taking and took attention off of the title and the image.

I live traced and ungrouped the image so that I could change the colour of it.

Even though I didn’t like this idea I thought that the font looked better than before, making it look more professional. The font is Minion Pro.

I then experimented with patterns and not colours on Photoshop and found this one. I really liked it as soon as I found it. I then got the teal colour from the pattern and put it as the background as I felt that the whole thing as the background would be too over powering also.

I then tried this font, however I feel that the one I used first works the best and I am going to use that as my magazine cover.

This font is Rosewood STD regular. I think it is too busy and too much for the front cover because the whole theme is simple however the pattern is busy, because of this I think everything else should be kept simple.

I added a price which is £1.99. I added the price to the front to get rid of some empty space. I could of also added the barcode and rough guide logo, however I felt that it looked better and simple without it and that I would prefer them on the back cover. the font I used for the title is Minon Pro.

I chose this font because it is simple and clear.

I changed the font colour to yellow because it is more eye catching and matches the lips. I asked my peers and they said that they preffered the yellow to the black. Also I took the price off and put it on the back with the barcode because then they are together and I thought the front looked better without it because it looks neater.
