Donna Miller

Donna Miller is an award-winning executive coach and consultant with Executive Resource Center, LLC. She has had over 30 years of business experience in the computer, telecommunications, cable, consulting and oil and gas industries. Much of her career has been spent at the executive level working with, and for, such leading companies as AT&T, Avaya, Chesapeake Energy, Cox Communications, Kimberly Clark Corporation, and Sun Microsystems.

Coaching Philosophy

Donna believes the role of a coach is to partner with client executives to capitalize on their strengths, elevate their thinking, expand their capacity and challenge the paradigms and mental models that may be getting in their way. Donna presents her clients with objective views of where and who they are and enables them to create and implement plans to take them where they need – and want – to be. By changing their thinking patterns, clients often find that they more effectively lead, build relationships, think strategically and communicate with others. Donna is an excellent listener and enthusiastic partner who listens for understanding, asks powerful questions, provides meaningful feedback and helps her clients to reframe their own thinking and behavioral patterns to achieve outstanding results.

Career History

The theme of Donna's career has been around initiating, driving and managing organizational transformations. Donna has led teams of up to 50 people and implemented programs that have impacted thousands. Representative achievements include leading the development of a playbook for consolidating 250 call centers to less than 30 nationwide, orchestrating a 4,000-employee reduction in force, leading a project team that delivered management self-service technology well before it was commonplace and having her employer selected as one of the Best Places to Work in the state while she was the VP of Human Resources. In addition, Donna's work experience in fast-changing industries allows her to help clients excel in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environments that require a high degree of flexibility and innovation.

Donna is skilled at working with high-potential leaders who are at the top of their game and must be rapidly groomed for higher level positions as well as those who are technically skilled or strategically important but who need to be more effective with their bosses, peers or teams.

Representative Coaching Successes

A high level leader was technically competent but getting in his own way. As a former military leader, he had a command-and-control leadership style. Donna got him to see how his style affected others. His team’s productivity improved and he has since been promoted twice. He recently thanked Donna for enhancing his career and his life. As a coach, it doesn’t get any better than that.

A fast-rising senior executive with a Fortune 500 company was a brilliant and highly capable leader but still relatively young. She utilized Donna as a confidante to discuss and resolve her issues and concerns and prepare herself for an officer position.

Qualifications

Donna has her MBA in Organizational Development from the University of Colorado at Denver and a BA in Business Administration and Psychology from Baylor University. She has also earned the SPHR designation from HRCI and is a Certified Coach.
