Year 6 - Learning at Home- Week Commencing 4 th May I would like to work in partnership with you to support your child whilst school continues to be closed. Information below has been designed to enable your child to continue to practise specific skills and fun challenges.
Each week I will update the ‘Specific Weekly Learning Tasks’ (see Table 2). This will supplement the ‘Core Learning Activities’ (see Table 1).
The ‘Extra Activities’ (see Table 3) are for you to choose activities that you would like to complete.
I will try, where possible, to avoid the need for you to print out any resources.
Table 1 Core Learning ActivitiesPractise these 3 times a week.
Read any of your books (school or home) and write a comment in your reading diary or on a Purple Mash blog.
Work on Times Table Rock Stars.Remember to use both garage and studio.
Complete Purple Mash 2do activities (new tasks will continue to be added each week).
Learn to read and spell statutory Y5/6 words (choose 5 -10 a week, list included below).
Work on your joined handwriting e.g. write a letter, a card or copy a poem.

Persuasive WritingFor your English this week I would like you to write a persuasive letter. Your letter should try to persuade the Government to allow women to vote. Use formal language and remember to include reasons why they should be allowed to vote. I would love to see your letters so please take a photo or email it to me.
Keep working on Carol Vorderman’s Maths Factor website.The BBC website has daily maths lessons that you can access. Converting measures of unitsThis week I would like you to look at measures with a focus on converting measures. The following websites will support you with this. The History of SuffrageContinue to research and learn about the Suffragette Movement. Research and write facts about Millicent Fawcett and Emily Davison.
Science- Heart and circulationFor science I would like you to look at the circulatory system. Start by completing the worksheet Systems in the body. Then I would like you to learn the parts of a lung. Use the lung word mat to help you and then try to fill in the missing labels when you feel confident. The worksheets are at the bottom of this document.
