Favorite shortcut:My computer: I will be using a __Macbook Pro_ for the majority of the work for this course. My favorite shortcut is and how it saves you time:

My personal favorite shortcut is the Command + f. This shortcut is very helpful when you are looking for something specific, such as key words, in document or a webpage. Using this shortcut, one can (hopefully) find exactly what they are looking for in a few minutes rather than half an hour. Also in addition it highlights every word being search for easy navigation.

III. Standards & Best Practice

ISTE Standards for Teachers“Effective teachers model and apply the ISTE Standards for Students (Standards•S) as they design, implement, and assess learning experiences to engage students and improve learning; enrich professional practice; and provide positive models for students, colleagues, and the community. All teachers should meet these standards and performance indicators.”

As you review these ISTE-T standards provide an example of at least one thing you do in your teaching that

1. Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity:a. My example of something I do: Have students find a certain topic they find interesting in the field of science or history. Have them do some research on the topic of their choice using credible resources and documents. However, I would provide the kind of websites or search engines they would be allowed to use. For more guide practice. b. Something to improve on: Provide a resource page with links to webpages and other resources that are beneficial to the topic of their choice. As if they are presenting to the class about what they have found.

2. Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessmentsa. My example of something I do: Have students create a Popplet that is about them. Sharing interests and some dreams they hope to fulfill in their life.b. Something to improve on: Share with students the many different resources that can be used to create various kinds of presentations.

3. Model digital age work and learninga. My example of something I do: Have students be active and use the helpful resources outside of class on wikispaces, moodle, or blackboard. b. Something to improve on: Have specific requirements for certain homework assignment that makes and shows the educator that the students are being active outside the classroom.

4. Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibilitya. My example of something I do: Have students read and do research about the guidelines/rules for being online to promote safety in the technology world both in and out of school. At the beginning of each new year (7th grade) I do a quick review of math problem solving steps from 6th grade. I help them identify some learning objectives. We check progress at the end of the month with feedback and discussion.

Cooperative Learning

Wikispaces or Blackboard

I will have students read an article related to the topic being discussed in the field of study. I will have students write a journal entry based on their beliefs and then give feedback on other classmates’ journal entries. This allows the “picture” to expand using everyone’s knowledge.

Multimedia Creation Prezi I can have students work as individuals or together in small groups. I would want them to create a presentation based on their imagination. Prezi helps this to happen based on the different templates given to use and the easy use of inputting images and videos. The presentation for example could have a background a student likes based on feelings or have a group have a background based on an interest they all have in common.

by watching multiple videos. Afterwards students would be ask to work on the assignment given based on what they learned from the videos. If students are struggling with a certain topic, then myself the educator would step in and fill in any learning gaps there might be.

VI. ReflectionBased on the resources in Basics, and your own experience, reflect on how thoughtful integration of best practice and technology can improve your instructional practice. Give some details.

I personally believe that we are moving towards the generations where technology will eventually surpass the use of hard cover textbooks and important documents. Students are being introduced to technology at a very young age and then the students learn how to work the very basics of technology before even possibly going to school. We see young kids playing with Ipads, cell phones, and even having more screen time at home. Educators can bring technology into the classroom in order to have more excitement in learning. We have the resources, so why don’t we use them? Educators do not want to see students being “bored” all the time, why not

make learning more fun by allowing them to use their imagination to create fun activities or use their own technology to help them. In this case, there need to be strong rules and standards for the class along with those already stated in the School Policy of technology.
