You can practice your multiplication and division facts by using X-tra Math. When you complete a section, let me know so I can move you on. This is a concept that you really need to know for fourth grade.

I have attached a copy of our capital cursive letters on the assignment sheet. We will be working with capital cursive S and P this week. On the Always Do Your Best Handwriting paper, that is with the assignment sheet, I would like for you to make me 3 capital cursive S’s. and P’s. Then I would like for you to write the following sentences in cursive: Samantha sails on the sea every Saturday. Papa picked a purple pepper. Please use your best handwriting. It will be for a handwriting grade. Please take a picture of the page and send it to me through Class Dojo.

English:

This week, the concept is over Pronoun-Verb Contractions. Read the section Possessive Pronouns on page 489 and Pronoun-Verb Contractions on page 490 from the Reading/Writing Workshop book. There is also a game on the Wonders website over this as well. You can also try Language Arts IXL: JJ.6 Use Possessive Pronouns and RR.1 Pronoun-Verb Contractions. Please complete the Pronoun-Verb Contraction pages that are on the bottom of this assignment sheet on your own. Please take a picture of them and send it to me through Class Dojo.

Spelling:

The words this week are words with Open Syllables CVC. Practice writing the words on page 145. Do pages 146-148. The students will have a spelling test this week. When your child is ready, please give them a spelling test using the words on page 145. Please write the words on a plain sheet of paper. Please take a picture of the test and send it to me through Class Dojo.

Phonics:

Concepts for the week will be Open Syllables and Prefixes and Suffixes. Students remember that every syllable in a word has one vowel sound. When the first syllable in a word ends with one vowel, the first syllable has the CV (consonant-vowel) pattern, and that vowel sound is long, that is called an open syllable. There are games on the Wonders website that will cover these concepts. Do Your Turn page 248 on your own. Please take a picture of it and send it to me through Class Dojo.

Reading:

Your stories this week will be over energy. You will learn about different kinds of energy that people may use. Read pages 388-389 from your Reading/Writing Workshop book over the vocabulary words. The vocabulary words are at the bottom of this assignment sheet. Complete Your Turn page 241 on your own. Please take a picture of it and send it to me through Class Dojo. There is a vocabulary game on the Wonders website to help with learning the words.

Read: Here Comes Solar Power on pages 390-393 from your Reading/Writing Workshop book.

Read page 395 from the Reading/Writing Workshop book over the Comprehension Skill of Cause and Effect. Complete Your Turn pages 243-245.

Read the story: It’s All in the Wind from your big reading book. The story is on pages 456-459. I would like you to complete the vocabulary test paper and the Comprehension paper for the story on your own without any help. These pages are at the bottom of the assignment sheet. You can send me a picture of the Comprehension pages and Vocabulary paper on Class Dojo.

Please continue to read for the 4th quarter. You will need to try to get 7 AR points. So continue to read and take AR tests.

Social Studies:

Read pages 212-213 over reading a road map. It is important that when you name the highway that you say if it is an interstate highway, a U.S. highway, or a state highway. Complete a Trip through South Dakota worksheet that is at the bottom of the assignment sheet. Please take a picture of the page and sent it to me through Class Dojo.

Read Lesson 3: Local Government on pages 214-219. Please make sure that you have an understanding of what branch of government the mayor belongs to, as well as the jobs of the mayor. Also, please understand what the job of city council is, as well as the branch of government the council belongs to. Complete the Who Am I worksheet that is at the bottom of the assignment sheet. Please take a picture of the page and sent it to me through Class Dojo.

Art:

Go outside and with sidewalk chalk, sticks, and/or stones, please draw me a summer picture of your choice. Take a picture of it and send it to me through Class Dojo. Have fun with this assignment.

Health:

Complete the Table Manners worksheet that is at the bottom of the assignment sheet. Please take a picture of the page and sent it to me through Class Dojo.
