Abrera is currently chairman of CCI-Asia, the content-production company behind Living Asia Channel. She is President of (FOCI) Foundation for Communication Initiatives, and she chairs the boards of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Children’s Hour Philippines. She is a trustee of: Philippine Board on Books for Young People, the Bonifacio Art Foundation, MuseoPambata, and the Philippine Eagle Foundation, among others. She serves as independent board member at Splash Corp., Pioneer Insurance, and Teleperformance Worldwide.

Raul M. Sunico, Ph.DPresident

Raul M. Sunico graduated from the University of the Philippines with the degrees of Bachelor of Music (cum laude), Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, and Master of Statistics. A scholarship from former First Lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos through the Young Artists Foundation of the Philippines enabled him to finish his Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York and a Doctor of Philosophy degree, major in piano Performance from the New York University. In 2005, he was also conferred a Doctor of Humanities degree (honoris causa) by the Far Eastern University.Sunico won the silver medal in the Viotti International Piano Competition in Vercelli, Italy, was a finalist in the Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, Italy and received the Henry Cowell Prize in the University of Maryland International Piano Competition in the United States. He has also served on the juries of the Bergen Philharmonic Competition in New Jersey, Isidor Bajic Memorial Piano Competition in Novi Sad, Serbia; Piyabhand Sanitwongse Piano Competition in Bangkok, Thailand; the Manila Symphony Competition, the Jeffrey Ching Piano Competition and the Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines Competition in Manila. Sinfonia, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Ho Chi Minh Symphony Orchestra, Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and other major Philippine orchestras.Sunico has recorded around fifty compact discs, including his piano transcriptions of Filipino folk songs and kundimans, concertos by Grieg, Saint-Saens, Ravel, and Lucino Sacramento; solo classical pieces; popular American songs set to piano; chamber and duo piano music, and original compositions. He had written piano arrangements of Philippine songs in Himig and “Mga Awit ng Himagsikan”, and is currently the music author of the textbook series “Musika at Sining” for grades 3 to 6 used in public schools. He holds the singular distinction of being the only pianist in the world to perform the four piano concertos of Sergei Rachmaninoff in a single evening. Sunico is concurrently the President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Dean of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. ~~~~~

Florangel Rosario-Braid, Ph.D

Florangel Rosario-Braid, former President and now President Emeritus, trustee and senior adviser of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC). A member of the 1986 Constitutional Commission, she authored provisions on communication, education, cooperatives, science and technology, NGOs, and human rights. She was chairman of the Philippine Social Science Council, senior researcher at the East West Communication Institute, professor at the University of Hawaii, professorial lecturer at the University of the Philippines, De la Salle University, Miriam College, Silliman University, among others; Chairperson of the Communication Committee of the UNESCO National

A Council member of two UNESCO organizations based in Paris – the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) and Information for All Programme (IFAP), Dr. Braid is a member of the International Advisory Council member of the Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research, and serves as consultant for several NGOs involved with social credit, livelihood, peace, and distance education. She was also a UNESCO Adviser to Sri Lanka on population communication, as well as consultant to World Bank, FAO, UNICEF, USAID, and the Philippine government, and a project leader of a UNESCO-sponsored research project on Muslim and Christian commonalities.

She was consultant/team leader to over a dozen development projects which include the Supreme Court-European Union Access to Justice for the Poor Project; SC-World Bank Change Management Program for the Judiciary; Supreme Court of the Philippines–World Bank Project on Strengthening the Communication System of the Judiciary; Communication Support to Manage Change Project of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR); Communication, Information and Education (IEC) strategies for resource management, environment and sustainable development; Adult and literacy education, Peace education, Media, information and communication technology policy formulation; among others.

Dr. Braid has published over a dozen books on communication, information technology, and continuing education, cooperatives and sustainable development and several journals on public broadcasting. She was also the first President and one of the Founding Directors of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. She is also a columnist of the Manila Bulletin since 1997.

Dr. Braid completed her bachelor’s degree from the University of the Philippines and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Syracuse University, New York. Among her awards include: U.P. Alumni Outstanding Professional Award in Mass Communication, Service Award, U.P. College of Education, Women of Distinction Award for Communication, The 2007 Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Awards for Literature and Journalism, the 2008 Hildegard Awards for Women in Media and Communication, the 2008 AMIC Asian Communication Outstanding Research Award, the 2009 Most Outstanding Quezon City Citizen Award, the Balitok-ASNA

Carolyn E. Espiritu

Carolyn Espiritu is a responsive, intuitive and analytical strategic communications professional

with a strong credible background in journalism and globally-grounded public relations practice. She is a special media trainer and public relations consultant in the public sector.

As a media consultant, Espiritu served as a special media trainer to President Benigno Aquino III and his Cabinet officials. She was also the Executive Vice-President of the Communications Experts Organization, Inc.; Strategic Planning and Director of Ogilvy and Mather Public Relations; and Director of National Press Club and Philippine Agricultural Journalists, Inc. She has conducted trainings for top level executives of French companies such as Lafarge and Holcim Cement, and other private companies such as Mead Johnson, NEC Philippines, Philippine Medical Association, Cement Manufacturing Association of the Philippines, Philippine Stock Exchange, among others.

Espiritu has provided media trainings and crisis communications program for General Motors, IBM, Napocor, Phinma Group, Abbot Laboratories, and various private banks and companies. She is also a writer-editor of various local and international publications.

Espiritu received an Anvil Award for Best PR Program for Project TEACH for California Manufacturing Company, and Philippine News Agency top news and feature writer of the year from 1983-1984. ~~~~

Nestor O. Jardin

A distinguished arts advocate and educator, Nestor Jardin is credited for devoting his career to

championing the arts and artists in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, and for working to create an environment where such sectors can flourish.

Prior to being a CCP trustee, Jardin was a Commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Philippine High School for the Arts. Jardin is recognized as being an example of a “cultural leader of rare energy, commitment, and vision who has set an extraordinary example both regionally and internationally.” He led the creation of the Philippine Cultural Educational Plan, a comprehensive national plan for the arts and cultural education, and has unceasingly worked to bring opportunities to artists in the country and abroad.

Jardin began as a dancer with the UP Filipiniana Dance Company and later as soloist with Ballet Philippines. He received various study grants such as Jaime V. Ongpin Scholarship at the Asian Institute of Management, an Asian Cultural Council fellowship in arts administration and an ASEAN-CIDA scholarship at the Banff Center for Management in Canada. He subsequently served as Artistic Director of Ballet Philippines, President of the CCP Dance Foundation and Vice President of the World Dance Alliance. He also served as Vice President and Artistic Director of the CCP in 1996, and later as CCP President.

Jardin is a John D. Rockefeller III Awardee for the Arts. ~~~~~

Jaime C. Laya, Ph.D

Dr. Jaime Laya is the Chairman and President of the Philippine Trust Company (Philtrust Bank). He is also the Chairman of the Don Norberto Ty Foundation, as

well as the Escuela Taller de Filipinas Foundation, Inc. He also serves as the Director of Philippine AXA Life Insurance Co., Inc. GMA Network, Inc., GMA Holdings, Inc., Ayala Land, Inc., Manila Water Company, Inc., and Bankers Association of the Philippines.

Aside from the CCP, Dr. Laya is also a trustee of St. Paul University-Quezon City, Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Yuchengco Museum, Ayala Foundation, Inc. CIBI Foundation, Inc., Heart Foundation of the Philippines, Inc., Fundación Santiago, Opera Guild of the Philippines, Cofradia dela Inmaculada Concepción, Society for Cultural Enrichment, Inc., as well as a columnist of the Manila Bulletin.

A former Minister of Education, Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Budget, Dr. Laya was also the Chairman of the University of the Philippines (UP) and other state universities, the Monetary Board and Governor of the Central Bank, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, as a private sector representative. He is the Founder and Chairman of J.C. Laya and Co., (later named Laya Mananghaya & Co.,- now Manabat Sanagustin & Co.—a Philippine member firm of KPMG International), one of the country’s largest auditing and consulting firms. He was also a Professor and Dean, College of Business Administration at UP, among others.

Dr. Laya is a recipient of Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice. In 2014, Dr. Laya was conferred the Encomienda de Número, Orden del Mérito Civil from Spain.

Dr. Laya is a graduate of Bachelor Science in Business Administration (magna cum laude), University of the Philippines and later masters in industrial management at Georgia Institute of Technology and doctoral degree in financial management at Stanford University. He also received his Doctor of Humanities (honoris causa) from the Mindanao State University

and Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from the Philippine Women’s University.~~~~~

Arsenio “Nick” J. Lizaso

Nick J. Lizaso is a theater actor, TV and film director. Currently, he is Vice President of the ITI-UNESCO Education and Training Committee as well as Executive Director of its Asia-Pacific Bureau. He is also a member of the International University Theatre Association (I.U.T.A). He is also a professor at La Consolacion College, Manila.

Among his film credits include “Anak ng Dilim”, “Ulo ng Gapo”, “Flordeliza”, “Markadong Angel.” He has directed TV drama series and anthologies such as Ipaglaban Mo, Balintataw, Hiyas, Ng Dahil sa Pag-ibig, Guni-Guni, among others. He has acted in 50 stage plays, notably was that of Prof. Henry Higgins in “My Fair Lady.”

He was a recipient of the British Council Grant Attachment with the Nottingham Playhouse and the Royal Shakespeare Company (London and Stratford-on Avon), as well as a Fullbright-Hayes Travel Grant to the U.S. for Theater Arts. He was also the President of the Directors Guild of

Lizaso’s awards included Dangal ng Lipi Award, Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Arts, CMMA Hall of Fame Awardee for “Balintataw”, a 1995 Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award by the City of Manila.

Lizaso obtained his Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of the East and Pre-Law at the University of the Philippines. ~~~~~

Zenaida Rustia Tantoco

Zenaida Rustia Tantoco is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rustan Group of Companies which include Rustan Commercial Corporation, Rustan Supermarket Inc., Stores Specialists, Inc., Royal Duty Free Shops, Sta. Elena Properties, Inc., among others. She is also the President of the Philippine-Italian Association (PIA) and former President of the Club Bulakeño, Inc. As a trustee of the CCP, Tantoco has helped raise funds for the purchase of new musical instruments for the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and its first European Concert Tour in 2001, as well as for the benefit of the CCP’s Arts for the People Program. As president of the Philippine-Italian Association, Tantoco organized fund-raising events for the PIA Endowment Fund, to include Auction of the Italian Murano Art Pieces, Salvatore Ferragamo Fashion Collection, An Exhibit of 101 Most Beautiful Necklaces, Andrea Bocelli Concert and Una Notte d’Incanto with pianist Cecile Licad. She has also raised funds for the benefit of the Philippine Red Cross, National Museum, Filipino Heritage Festival and the Tantoco-Rustia Foundation. She also sits as adviser to the Club Bulakeño Foundation, and Dangal ng Bulacan Foundation, Inc.

Maria Cristina Valera-Turalba

A multi-faceted architect, urban and regional planner, and an avowed environmentalist, Maria Cristina Valera-Turalba is a member of the United Architects of the Philippines and the Philippine

Institute of Environmental Planners (PIEP).

Turalba is also a member of the Panel of Experts of the UNESCO-ICCROM Asian Academy of Heritage Management and the National Historical Institute. Aside from CCP, Turalba is the founding trustee of the UP SURP Alumni and Friends Foundation, Inc., and the UP College of Architecture Foundation for the Built Environment, Inc.

Turalba is the Founding Director of Turalba Foundation and the Mount Malarayat Golf & Country Club; Principal of the Turalba and Associates; Vice Chair of the Active Group, Inc. and; Vice-President of the Pacific Plaza Towers Condominium Corporation. She has also provided scholarship program from high school to college for promising children of Bgy. Dagatan, Talisay, Munting Pulo, San Isidro, and Lipa City, Batangas. Other projects include the rehabilitation of the Balaoan Day Care Center in La Union and the Urban Design Lecture/Workshop for various barangay officials.

Among her notable awards for outstanding achievements in architecture and design include PRC Outstanding Professional Award in the field of environmental planning; 5th Mariang Maya Awards (2003), Outstanding Woman in Construction (2001); Outstanding Professional Award in Architecture (1998); and several design awards for excellence.

Turalba took her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Masters in Environmental Planning at the University of the Philippines and later took Construction Contracts Administration and Management in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Construction Management at the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business. She obtained her post graduate diploma in housing from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and the Parahyangan Catholic University, Indonesia.

Isabel Caro Wilson

Former Philippine Ambassador to Spain Isabel Caro Wilson is a widely respected member of the Philippine business community. She held the position of Chairman and later President of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Philippines Foundation. She has been an active member of organizations such as the Makati Business Club, Heritage Conservation Society and National Museum Foundation. She served as Director for the Philippine Business for Social Progress, the Philippine Spanish Business Council and Memorare Manila, Treasurer of the Fundacion Amigos del Instituto Cervantes, and a columnist of the Manila Chronicle. She was also a Senior Adviser to Spain and Portugal and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She was the first woman President of the Manila Polo Club as well as a former CCP President.

As Ambassador to Spain during the administration of President Fidel V. Ramos, she revitalized trade and cultural relations between the Philippines and Spain. Ambassador Wilson was credited in acquiring a 1,250 square meter lot in a prestigious district in Madrid for the Philippine Embassy and the Ambassador’s residence, as well as putting up a monument of Jose Rizal that stands on Avenida de Filipinas in Spain in 1998.

For having served with distinction, the Spanish government conferred on Ambassador Wilson the “Gran Cruz de la Banda de Isabela la Catolica.” The Department of Foreign Affairs awarded her the “Gawad Mabini, Dakilang Kamanong.” Ambassador Wilson is also a Premio Zobel

Danilo L. Dolor

A businessman, an art and music patron, a nationalist, and a tireless cultural worker, Danilo L. Dolor, or Danny to his friends and colleagues, has become known for his advocacy in promoting traditional Filipino music, and preserving and enriching Filipino culture, arts, and history.

In 1978, Dolor founded the Tribung Pilipino Cultural Foundation, and pioneered the first all Filipino song concert at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He has also presented musical literary tributes to eminent

names in Philippine music, and concert lectures in schools and colleges throughout the country.

Since 1989, he gathers students from over 100 schools in his home province of Batangas for the Paligsahan sa Kasaysayan, a history quiz, in observance of the birth of Apolinario Mabini, with the support of the National Historical Commission.

Moreover, to preserve much of the popular culture of Philippine Movies, he mounted an exhibit of post war movie ads and published the book, “The Golden Years” 1946-1956. In 2012, he likewise presented an exhibit of pre-war movie ads at the CCP, a first. This exhibit was held to coincide with the opening of Cinemalaya Festival. Later, he published Ang Tangi Kong Pag-ibig, a biography of the immortal Carmen Rosales, a movie icon.

Recently, his column, “Remember When”, which appears in the Philippine Star, marked its 20th year. This nostalgia column pays tribute to great names in Philippine Cinema.

Dolor received in 1990 the prestigious Papal Award, “Order of the Sacred Cross, Pro Eclesia et Pontifice”, for his dedication and service to the church and the archdiocese of Lipa. At present, he is a member of the board of trustees of the Manila Metropolitan Basilica Cathedral Foundation.

In 2001, Dolor received the prestigious Dangal ng Haraya, Lifetime Achievement Award, from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Among other accolades for his ardent support of Philippine culture, arts, and cinema, he was bestowed the following: Famas, Jose R. Perez Memorial Award 2011 for his contributions to Philippine cinema; Outstanding Manilan 2004, by the City of Manila; Gantimpalang Lampara ng Kultura at Sining, (Light of Culture and Arts Award), given by the Philippine Center of the International Theater Institute and the ITI-Earthsavers UNESCO Dream Center; Surian ng Wikang Pambansa (Institute of National Language) citation for propagating the Filipino language through musical and cultural presentations; Outstanding Lipeño, given by the city of Lipa; Outstanding Batangueño, by the province of Batangas.

Dolor is presently Chairman of the Board of Emilio Aguinaldo College Educational Corporation, Chairman of the Board of UPSI Holdings Incorporated, Chairman of the Board of St. Patrick School of Quezon City, Chairman of the Board of Rural Bank of Candelaria Incorporated, Vice
