1. Update on hygiene promotion within the camp IMC appreciate the coordination among all actors working in Bakassi towards conducting hygiene promotion within the camp, which is impacting on behavioral change seen among the IDPs.
IRC have 10 CHVs, 8 WASCOM volunteers and 2 artisan in Bakasi camp .method of approach when conducting hygiene promotion include FGD, and door to door within Gwoza Arabic and some part of marte beneficiaries within Bakassi
IMC currently have 35 active CHVs conducting hygiene promotion within Bakasi camp using different method of approach such as CHAST, PHAST, FGD, Mass campaign. IMC have hygiene and sanitation club, where they sensitize and conduct a mass campaign within the camp once in a week especially on open defecation and critical times of hand washing.
IMC will conduct cleaning/washing campaign on water storage containers for all Household in Bakassi 15 th April 2019 to improve water quality storage
IOM have 20 active WASH volunteer that are involved in hygiene promotion campaign ,door to door sensitization and FGD with the leaders in respective location
All WASH actors to meet in Bakasi by 9am on Thursday 18th April 2019 to coordinate and conduct a mass campaign and sensitization on SAY NO TO OPEN DEFECATION .

IRC has rehabilitated 17 emergency latrine out of 5-drop
holes that was constructed during the emergency
response for the new arrivals in Bakasi camp. IDPs are
tempering and vandalizing the facilities, therefore there
is need for community involvement in order to maintain
them.
IRC has selected volunteers that will be cleaning the
emergency latrine.
IRC provided 44 bags of powdered 900g detergent, 311
local palm brooms, 84 pairs of industrial hand gloves and
7 pairs of rubber boots .These-cleaning materials were
distributed across their facilities within the camp to be
used for cleaning.
IMC is planning to rehabilitate 57 shower/latrine in the
camp
IMC has distributed latrine/shower cleaning materials
within Bakasi camp to 46 latrine/shower volunteer group
with a total number of 369 individuals. Number in each
group varies according to the number of blocks. contents
of cleaning materials distributed include 38pcs of
stainless steel bucket, 152 pairs of heavy duty boots,152
pcs face google ,152pcs industrial nose marks, 38pcs
scup,152pairs of pvc handglooves, 47 5lit

disinfectant(izal), 94pcs of900g detergent, and 160pcs
palm local brooms. Replenishment for disinfectant and
detergent will be conducted subsequently for the next 3
months.
Dislodgement has been conducted by UNICEF in Bakasi
camp
ACF is planning to rehabilitate latrine/shower within
Bakasi camp.
IOM is currently constructing 6 stance of latrine and
shower in marte, presently at the excavation stage
3. Update on registration of beneficiaries for NFI IMC has registered 4191 WFPs beneficiaries and 836
GBV beneficiaries for WASH NFI. Distribution will
commence soon by the WASH team
IRC has distributed 600 reusable sanitary pad to new
arrivals, adolescent girls within the age of 13-18 years
and women within the age of 20-39 years
ACF distributed 540 hygiene kit to new arrivals and have
plans to distribute more hygiene kit to different
beneficiaries among the new arrivals.
Need for coordination during selection to avoid duplication of targeted beneficiaries.

4. State of water infrastructure within the camp Thieves stole 0.5 horsepower submersible pump at
water source constructed by IOM in sambisa area of marte LGA in Bakasi camp.
IMC has completed the construction of 1 tank stand and 2 in process in Bakasi camp. Plans is ongoing to install 2 solarized borehole in mongono
IMC is planning to construct soak pits to 6 hand pumps in Bakasi camp. 5 water monitors are checking and monitoring the quality of water supplied in the camp.5 chlorine dozers out of 9 are currently not functional and plans to repair it is ongoing .
ACF have provided 2 tank (3,500lit) located at gwoza, water trucking will commence by Monday 09/04/2019. 20000lits of treated water will be supplied daily and this will continue until there is another alternative of water supply in such locations.
IRC is maintaining and monitoring its water source in marte LGA
Supervise and monitor the water quality within the camp to ensure it is safe for consumption.

5 General environmental sanitation. WASH volunteers and the IDPs observe general
sanitation every Saturday. 85percent of the camp is clean Environmental cleaning volunteers were selected by
Youth empowerment in collaboration with World Bank in each LGA within Bakasi camp. The volunteers were given cleaning material such as boots, rake, and shovel

brooms. Clean up is conducted twice a week. Number of volunteers recruited is unknown as selection is still ongoing.
6 Concern on excavated holes within the camp
Excavation of pit for the production of block in
Bakasi camp is increasing within the camp, more
especially around fetching points, this could be
dangerous as the pit get filled up with waste water,
which can led to drowning or injuries. IMC is
planning to fill up 8 excavated pits around fetching
point in Bakasi camp
This concern to be further discussed in the general coordination meeting to find solution to it.
