End of year 1 – summer of fun pack 2020As well as continuing to practise reading, writing and numbers at home this summer we wanted to give you

some fun learning ideas to explore…

Literacy based fun

1. Sight word noughts and crosses – can you get three in a row?2. Water balloon phonics – can you find a word ending to match the initial sound – say and splat!3. Paint over the chalk sight words with water4. Tricky words hop scotch5. Bookworm challenge – each book your child reads they get to add on another part of the worm6. Outdoor name painting on big paper7. Word snakes and ladders - Roll the dice to move along the sight word buttons, go back if you land on

a snake.8. Sunshine journal – each day add a ray to the sun telling us what you have done 9. Creating a scrap book/ diary of any adventures you have10. Making a den and writing instructions of how you built it11. If you do any cooking could you write down a shopping list of ingredients or even the recipe?

1. Sink and float with natural materials – predict and test2. Grow a rainbow experiment using water, plate and skittles to watch the colours run and mix – how

long did it take to work? Use timer? 3. Water in the zip bag experiment, can you press a pencil all the way through without the water coming

out? 4. Lego bridge challenge – build up and over different shapes, use language of length5. Building structures with marshmallows and tooth picks6.
