In your own words, what should be the Vision statement for SRU?preparing students to be productive members of society

It is

the vision of SRU Elementary School to build the foundation for its students that will later support their academic growth as they continue to experience the opportunities provided by the Athens Area School District.

At SRU our vision is to provide a quality education daily to students by giving them the tools to read, write, problem solve, and become good citizens within their community.

At SRU our team of teachers and staff work hard to create an environment where students learn the skills necessary to be respectful communicators, hard workers, and problem solvers ready for the 21st century.

We believe that our students should do the best of their ability to achieve a great character, and awesome grades.The small school that helps students grow academically and personally.

SRU should commit itself to making each child a true reader, mathematician, and independent thinker/problem solver. We as a community should support the learning required for our students to have a strong educational foundation to take with them to the next level and into the real world.

The future is Now! That's who we teach! Being ready for Tomorrow, begins Today!

To create an environment for learning where kids are safe, happy and having fun learning.

To provide learning opportunities and experiences to all students so they can achieve THEIR goals!

I believe the students in SRU should first learn how to function socially and then academically. For too long all we've cared about is their potential test scores, forgetting about their emotional/social preparedness. SRU should be a place where we strive to prepare our children to face the challenges they will encounter as they grow by providing a school that is inviting, nurturing,and stimulating for each childs' needs. We also need to instill in our students respect and courteousness, along with tolerance of others who are different from us. In addition, our children should be given the opportunity to learn and grow from their successes and their failures.

Allowing teachers to love what they do and do what they love to prepare our students educationally for the challenges they will face in the world.

Creating an environment to ensure growth in students both personally and academically, while promoting academic and behavior growth.
