Safe Honesty Respect Healthy Teamwork Tech Heroes Club We were awarded a Grant from Digital Xtra Fund and Skyscanner to buy Spheros, Microbits and Osmo Kits in order to run an after school Tech Heroes Club. We were also given micro bits from Micro:bit Educational Foundation. Digital Xtra Fund held an event at Anderston Primary to announce the projects they were supporting this year and representatives from Scottish Government as well as partners working with Digital Xtra Fund attended. They were able to see the children working on their projects and were very impressed with the children’s engagement and interest. The club is run by Mrs Patterson and Martyn Bellshaw and every pupil in the school will have the opportunity to attend the after school club this session with the club continuing into 2019/20. Thank you to Daisy Abbot who was instrumental in making this happen by completing the grant form and sourcing resources and websites. Daisy is also responsible for our School Blog which she created and updates this on a regular basis. Science and Technology Week – 11th March – 15th March

All classes will be involved in doing lots of science and technology activities during Science and Technology week. We were given a ‘kick start’ grant and have purchased material to help us have more additional ‘hands on’ experiences. On Tuesday 12th March, we will be having our Careers Afternoon for Primary 4 to Primary 7 where the children will get the opportunity to speak to different people about their careers and their career path. Thank you to those who have agreed to come along and speak to the children.

Pop Up RestaurantThe Primary 6/7’s have been working with two of our parents, Claire and Jameel, to plan and organise a Pop Up Restaurant. This is the second year that this event has been put on and we are sure that it will be as successful as it was last year. Parents/Carers as well as some of our Community Partners have been invited along to the restaurant on Thursday 7th March at 1pm. I am sure everyone will be extremely impressed.

Nursery PupilsThe nursery children started their visits this week and we were extremely pleased with how well they adapted to the school environment. The buddies were excellent in supporting them at our Play to Learn Area and they are looking forward to continuing working with them each week. The visits will continue until May which will have given them a really positive experience in the school before they join us in August 2019.

Breakfast ClubChildren who are attending breakfast club must be in the hall no later than 8.35am.

Head LiceI will continue to raise awareness of this issue in our monthly newsletter to remind everyone to take time to do a head lice check and treat hair accordingly.

Spring Break and EasterWe finish up for our Spring Break on Friday 29th March and return to school on Monday 15th April. We will then stop again on Thursday 18th April and return to school on Tuesday 23rd April.

XPRESSIONS APPPlease contact the school if you are continuing to have issues downloading the app to check that we have the correct contact information.
